American Motors Corporation Model Descriptions and General Information
American Motors Corporation Model Descriptions and General Information Rambler Six and V8: 1955 – 1957 1955 Nash Rambler Six The 1955 Nash Rambler received a minor facelift over 1954, but was basically unchanged from the car issued in 1953, which was distinguished by a lowered hood, and enclosed front and rear fenders. That styling had been credited to Pinin Farina and did have many of the styling features of the 1952 and 1953 Golden Anniversary Ambassador and Statesman. (For more information on the 1953 Rambler, see the Tech Section on Nash vehicles). New for 1955 features included the addition of a cellular grille and full wheel cut-outs in the front fenders, versus the previous enclosed look. Ramblers came in two wheelbase models; 100" for the Standard 2- 1955 Rambler Cross Country Station Wagon. door and 4-door cars and 108" for "Custom" 2 and 4-door models as is the station wagon shown at right. As part of the merger, the Rambler was sold as the "Nash Rambler" and the "Hudson Rambler". See the discussion under Hudson Cars for more information. The 85 horsepower 184 cu. in. 6-cylinder engine of previous years was dropped and was replaced by the 90 horsepower 196 cubic inch engine, which had come on the Hydra-Matic equipped cars in 1953 and 1954. It now was the sole available powerplant. Rambler consistently held the No. 1 spot in used car value, as reflected in NADA reports of the time. As such, for 1955, 56,023 Nash Ramblers were sold. And when combined with Hudson Rambler sales, over 81 thousand were delivered to customers, which, at the time, was the highest total ever. -

Griffin: Okay. Is this the show? Are we in it? Rachel: Hi, this is Rachel McElroy! Griffin: Hi, this is Griffin McElroy. Rachel: And this is Wonderful! Griffin: It‘s gettin‘ sweaaatyyy! Rachel: [laughs] Griffin: It‘s not—it doesn‘t feel that bad to me. Rachel: See, you're used to it. Griffin: Y'know what it was? Mm, I had my big fat gaming rig pumping out pixels and frames. Comin‘ at me hot and heavy. Master Chief was there. Just so fuckin‘—just poundin‘ out the bad guys, and it was getting hot and sweaty in here. So I apologize. Rachel: Griffin has a very sparse office that has 700 pieces of electronic equipment in it. Griffin: True. So then, one might actually argue it‘s not sparse at all. In fact, it is filled with electronic equipment. Yeah, that‘s true. I imagine if I get the PC running, I imagine if I get the 3D printer running, all at the same time, it‘s just gonna—it could be a sweat lodge. I could go on a real journey in here. But I don‘t think it‘s that bad, and we‘re only in here for a little bit, so let‘s… Rachel: And I will also say that a lot of these electronics help you make a better podcast, which… is a timely thing. -
SNICK - Round 4
SNICK - Round 4 1. This object was directly inspired by a failed children's remote control shaped like a hammer. Dan Klitzner, the creator of this object, also designed the spherical Perplexus and intended for this object to make Homer Simpson's "D'oh" sound. A spin-off this object resembles a yo-yo and needs to be (*) "zinged." The original version of this object included "Vox" and "Beat" modes, the latter of which lacks verbal instructions. This object indicated a user's score by playing drum sounds to represent ones and crank sounds to represent tens. An "extreme" version of this object added options for spinning and flicking. For 10 points, name this toy that commands its user to take simple actions including "pull it" and "twist it." ANSWER: Bop-It <Nelson, Video Games> 2. Description acceptable. In one scene, this man is nearly crushed to death at the bottom of a well while the narrator muses on the words "if only." This man crafts a beautiful dollhouse that his spoiled granddaughter rejects, screaming, "I want the one that I saw on the television!" This man loses his faith in Rex, who was traumatically deafened in a flood and was voiced by (*) Hugo Weaving. Esmé is the wife of this man, whose shoe is urinated on at a county fair, prompting him to lower a guess by three ounces. This man sings "If I Had Words" to an animal that he also enters into a sheepherding contest. James Cromwell played, for 10 points, what man who tells the title character of a 1995 family film "That'll do, pig"? ANSWER: Arthur Hoggett (or Farmer Hoggett; accept the farmer from Babe or similar; prompt on "Farmer") <Vopava, Movies> 3. -
1995 Nash Stream Forest Management Plan
Nash Stream Forest MANAGEMENT PLAN State of New Hampshire Department of Resources and Economic Development 1995 050 Nash Stream Forest FOREWORD The Nash Stream Forest is a unique parcel of land in Northern New Hampshire. Its acquisi- tion in 1988, through a collaborative effort between the state of New Hampshire Land Conservation Investment Program, the U.S. Forest Service, The Nature Conservancy, The Trust for New Hampshire Lands, and The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests is equally unique, and serves as a milestone in state, private and federal cooperation. The diversity of the groups represented in this effort is almost as great as the diversity of resources that exists within the Nash Stream Forest and the topography of the land itself. Yet over an eighteen-month period, representatives from each of these groups worked together, to negotiate an arrangement which all felt was in the best interest of the land and the people who use it. All of the groups involved in the purchase and future management of the Nash Stream Forest recognized the importance of protecting the Forest from development, as well as the importance of continuing to use the land in a "multiple-use" manner—for education and research, as a key watershed area, for fish and wildlife, recreation, scenic qualities, and as a sustainable timber resource. These mutual concerns led to the successful purchase of the property, the formation of a Technical Team to assist in the development of a management plan, and to a gubernatorial-appointed Advisory Committee to focus public input and pro- vide insightful advice (see page 9). -
