I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you, does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone. This way of life is so different than the way most of us live. If we are good Christians, we intend to do this and even redirect our lives to this end, however, when one is con- secrated, he/she takes on a whole new level of commitment. We are very blessed to have Carmelite priests, 4 deacons and 2 nuns. Sr. Mary, a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, spends her whole life serving the church with her wonderful talent of creating artwork, including these parish bulletins. Sr. Elaine spends her whole life in the service of our incarcerated brothers and sisters here in our prisons with Deacon Scotty and his group as well as in Mexico, where her community continues the work of Mother Antonia. DEFINITIONS: EUDISTS SERVANTS – after the life and example of St. John Eudes (1601 – 1680) 11th HOUR – the order was founded for women who are single and between 45-65. INSPIRATION: “And about the eleventh hour, he (the owner of the vineyard) went out and found others” This story from the Scriptures is about the workers who showed up close to the end of the day. Jesus explained through the owner’s attitude that these workers were to be paid the same wage as those who had been working all day, in other words, they were as valuable and to be honored along with the others. So, this community is for women who have lived in other circumstances and had other careers before deciding to turn their entire lives and talents over to the Lord. Maria Clarke Brenner was a woman of means and influ- ence who raised 7 children in Hollywood. In response to the Lord’s call, when her children were grown, at the age of 50, she left that life and made the leap of faith into consecrated life and into the extreme environment of a Mexican jail, where she became Sr. Antonia. She lived in a tiny cell in the prison for over 35 years and is the only one in history who has ever been allowed to do this. By request of Archbishop Munoz of the Archdiocese of Tijuana, Mexico, Sr, Antonia founded an order to take up and continue the work she was doing.
