During his relatively brief but successful career in the sport he played for both the Washington Senators and the New York Yankees. What very few baseball fans don’t know however is that to this very day he is the only major league player to have been born in China. His parents came to Tianjin in the late 1900s as missionaries. After pursuing a baseball career back in the United States, Kingman decided to follow in his family’s footsteps and became a missionary in various parts of Asia. Huo Yuanjia, martial artist and freedom fighter The late Mr. Huo was born in 1868, a time in which China was being consistently invaded by foreign colonial powers. The Tianjin-born legend is well known across the land for fighting back against the occupying powers. He was an exceptionally gifted martial artist who practiced mizongyi. In order to promote his cause, Huo established the Shanghai-based Chin Woo Athletic Association.
