Recommended Tourist Sights in Taiwan & Travel Agency (nformation From Sol Hotel) Confucius Temple 孔廟 The Confucius Temple of Hsinchu City (a.k.a. Wen Temple), built in the 15th year of Chiaching of the Ching Dynasty (1810 A.D.), was originally a school of Confucian teachings of the Tanshui Division. Its location was at the present Chengkung Village, between Sunrise Department Store and Kuochi Theater. This temple once served as a station for the Japanese garrison, with the sacred ceremony temporarily abolished during that time. Later, because of the people’s protests, ceremony was resumed and Japanese military withdrawn. The gods were then still worshiped at Tacheng Shrine. Side rooms around Tacheng Shrine served as classrooms for public schools in Hsinchu. After thousands of years, Confucius teachings of still affect the lives of the people in Hsinchu. This temple has become the palace where the spirit of Confucian teachings is kept. Every September 28th, the Sacred Ceremony in honor of Confucius is a major event for Hsinchu City. Dong-Men Town 迎曦門 Dong-Men Town, established in Dao-Guang 7th Year and completed on August 20th (lunar calendar) in Dao-Guang 9th Year, is Ying-Xi gate. It has more than one hundred seventy years of history and features four towers: north gate Gong-Chen (no longer exists), west gate Yi-Shuang (no longer exists), south gate Ge-Xun (no longer exists), and east gate Ying-Xi gate (still exist). Under constant maintenance by the government, Dong-Men Town has become the spiritual castle for people of Hsinchu. She is the only witness for construction process of Hsinchu old town, still standing on the street and telling all those people the story about Hsin-Chien. In December 1998, reconstruction of Dong-Men Town began. In order to ensure full protection of this square, construction has altered its designs eight times, which combines design perspectives of historic sights with the new city, design features of historic and modern engineering.

International Journal of Hospitality Management 29 (2010) 99–107 Contents lists available at ScienceDirect International Journal of Hospitality Management journal homepage: www.elsevier.com/locate/ijhosman A stochastic cost efficiency analysis of international tourist hotels in Taiwan Jin-Li Hu a,*, Chia-Ning Chiu a, Hwai-Shuh Shieh b, Chia-Hui Huang a a Institute of Business and Management, National Chiao Tung University, 118, Chung-Hsiao W. Rd., Sec. 1, Taipei City 100, Taiwan b Department of Management Science, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan ARTICLE INFO ABSTRACT Keywords: The one-stage stochastic frontier approach (SFA) is used in this study to simultaneously estimate cost International tourist hotel efficiency scores and factors of cost inefficiency for 66 international tourist hotels in Taiwan during Cost efficiency 1997–2006. An SFA model with three outputs and three inputs is defined. The three outputs are room Stochastic frontier revenue, food and beverage revenue, and other operation revenue while the three inputs are price of Panel data labor, price of other operation, and price of food and beverage. This model also takes into account five Time-varying efficiency environmental variables, including dummy variable of the hotels located in non-metropolitan area, dummy variable of chain hotels, the number of tourist guides, the minimum distance from each hotel to Taoyuan international airport and the minimum distance from each hotel to Kaohsiung international airport. Empirical results show that international tourist hotels in Taiwan are on average operating at 91.15% cost efficiency. All nominal variables are transformed into real variables in 1997 prices by GDP deflators. Chain systems, tourist guides, and international transportation can significantly improve the cost efficiency of international tourist hotels in Taiwan.

  • A Study of the Critical Success Factors That Are Synonymous with Efficient International Tourist Hotels in Taiwan
A STUDY OF THE CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS THAT ARE SYNONYMOUS WITH EFFICIENT INTERNATIONAL TOURIST HOTELS IN TAIWAN by Chieh Heng Ko A thesis submitted to the University of Western Sydney in part fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy June, 2009 © Chieh Heng Ko Acknowledgements Without the good sense and guidance of my supervisors Associate Professor Terry Sloan and Ms. Rayka Presbury this research would have never been completed. I thank them for their timely rescue effort, and for fitting my problem into their already busy lives. I am indebted to a number of hotel managers who volunteered their valuable time to share with me about their experience to operate hotel, making data gathering an enjoyable social and learning experience. Finally, I would like to dedicate this thesis to my family with love and gratitude for their support, encouragement, patience and understanding during my study in overseas. I apologise for all my absences and for my lack of attention to all their lives. I am happy to announce they have their husband and dad back. Now it is time for us all to focus on fulfilling new dream. ii Statement of Authentication The work presented in this thesis is, to the best of my knowledge and belief, original except as acknowledged in the text. I hereby declare that I have not submitted this material, either in whole or part, for a degree at this or any other institution. ……………………………… Chieh Heng Ko June, 2009 iii Table of Contents Acknowledgements……………………………………………………………... ii Statement of Authentication………………………………………………….... iii Table of Contents……………………………………………………………….

cgiv2012 – VENUE 9th International Conference on Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualization (CGIV 2012) Hsinchu, Taiwan, July 25-27, 2012 VENUE: National Chiao Tung University ● Hsinchu ● Taiwan http://www.nctu.edu.tw/english/index.php Local Information Welcome to Hsinchu, Taiwan Conference Venue How to Get to the Conference Venue & Hotel Accommodation Information Hsinchu Map Weather Information (Please click here for the daily weather forecast.) Social Networking Event – <will be available Shortly> Visa Information Welcome to Hsinchu, Taiwan Hsinchu (Chinese: 新竹) is the 5th largest city in Taiwan, which is located between Taipei (the capital and also the largest) and Taichung (the 3rd largest), as shown in the following map (see Figure (a)). Hsinchu becomes notable to the world after Hsinchu Science Park (a.k.a., Taiwan Silicon Valley, see Figure (b)) was established in 1980. The park has been very successful, and its 400 high-tech companies accounted for 10% of Taiwan's GDP in 2007. It is home to the world's top two semiconductor foundries, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC). The Hsinchu Science Park video can be viewed from: [video] The previous name of Hsinchu is "Bamboo Moat", originated from an aboriginal resident tribe of the bamboo moat society in the past. After the first year of Emperor Yong Zheng (1723), the name became "Fresh Water Hall". After Taipei built its government office in the first year of Emperor Guang Xu (1875), the "Fresh Water Hall" was modified to "Hsinchu County". "Hsinchu" means "New Bamboo" in Chinese, which may refer to the new county built in the bamboo moat, or the compound of a word taken from "Bamboo Moat" and a wish that is made for the advance every new day.
