Ohio State Defensive End Chase Young Declares for 2020 NFL Draft Ohio State Defensive End Chase Young Declares For 2020 NFL Draft Chase Young will forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the 2020 NFL Draft. The standout defensive end announced his decision via his Twitter account on Jan. 3. James 1:17… Buckeye For Life…✌❤️ pic.twitter.com/symHLRRuCB — CY2 (@youngchase907) January 3, 2020 Young set the Ohio State single-season record with 16.5 sacks as a junior for the Buckeyes, helping the team set the program record with 54 sacks on the year. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound edge rusher recorded 21 tackles for loss (1.75 per game), which tied him for fourth in the country. Young, who finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting, recorded the second-most forced fumbles in the nation with six. He did all this despite missing two games due to a suspension. With the Cincinnati Bengals expected to select Southern Ohio native and former Buckeye Joe Burrow with the No. 1 pick, the Washington Redskins sit at No. 2 with former Ohio State standouts Dwayne Haskins and Terry McLaurin on the team. Haskins is hopeful that he and Young will be reunited in D.C., which is not far from where they each attended high school in Maryland — Dematha Catholic for Young and the Bullis School for Haskins. Washington Head Coach Ron Rivera Postgame Quotes – December 13, 2020 San Francisco 49ers vs. Washington Football Team Do you have any updates on QB Alex Smith? “Yes, what happened was Alex developed some tightness and muscle soreness as he was pushing off that right leg. As we ended the half, they took him in to get x-rays. The x-rays were fine. There was no issue there, but he had the soreness and it was tight. So we decided not to have him go back out there in the second half. We had them there in case of emergency, he stayed on the sideline, stayed loose and tried to loosen it up, but it just stayed tight. He couldn't get it loose. In an abundance of caution, we went with [QB] Dwayne [Haskins Jr.] in the second half.” What can you say about your defense and the performance they had in this game today? “It was pretty exciting. They did a lot of good things. They really stepped up and helped out. I know there's some issues that [Defensive Coordinator] Jack [Del Rio] is not happy with, but Jack's expecting an awful lot from those guys as we all are and those guys rose to the occasion.” Over the last few weeks you’ve talked about how DE Chase Young was staying patient when he was being double-teamed and triple teamed when he was held sackless. For him to have the performance he had after you’ve told him to not get frustrated and to wait for that moment.

Annual Report 2019–2020 Sport and the Body ‘‘ The heart crosses the finish line before the body. A greguería written by Alberto Ríos Arizona’s Poet Laureate, University Professor and Director of the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing at ASU, ‘‘and a fan of sport ’’ Sport and the Body Message from Kenneth L. Shropshire Where do I begin … When the 2019–2020 academic year started, I don’t think we had any idea how dramatically our lives would change in the months that lay ahead. Our theme year focus of Sport and the Body was leading us down our usual path of uncovering new insights and sharing what we learned with wider audiences, all with the hope of using sport to make the world a better place. As spring rolled around, we were making plans around the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, going about our normal daily routines, as we should. Designs were in motion for the relaunch of our Global Sport Matters multimedia website and we were finalizing details for the third annual Global Sport Summit, to be held in early April. We, like all of you, had to drastically shift our priorities when the COVID-19 pandemic impacted our world. In a strange twist of fate, we found ourselves uniquely positioned to respond to the crisis thanks to a number of factors working in our favor: Arizona State University Annual faculty and staff were already well versed on the Zoom video conferencing platform, which had been report implemented universitywide many months before; we had been preparing to launch several new online multimedia channels, which soon proved to be ideal 2019–2020 for reaching a global audience; and we had a diverse, tech-savvy, responsive staff eager to take on new challenges.

  • Scouting Report: Ohio State DE Chase Young
Scouting Report: Ohio State DE Chase Young What is there to say about Ohio State defensive end Chase Young that hasn’t been said? The 6-5, 264-pounder from Maryland was as dominant as any defender in the country in 2019, and broke Ohio State’s school record for sacks in a single season, despite missing two games right in the middle of it. He’s near the top of the list when naming the best defenders in school history, and seems to be as close to a generational prospect as you’ll find on the defensive line in the past decade. All of the superlatives are deserved. Young was unstoppable during his junior campaign, and it took essentially the entire season for any team to figure out a way to even slow him down. As he was quick to point out at the combine, even when teams like Michigan, Wisconsin and Clemson did manage to keep his relatively contained, he still impacted the game as much as anyone else on the field. “Being the best defensive end isn’t about sacks, it’s about being the most disruptive player on the field,” Young said. “You can do that without having a sack. I had a lot of quarterback hits, a lot of pressures. If you study [the tape], you would see that. You’ll see how they changed their whole offensive game plan for one guy.” Checking the tape, Young’s comments are confirmed. The Wolverines, Badgers and Tigers had to dedicate two or even three blockers to Young on every single play, and that opened up the line for the other 10 Buckeyes on the field to attack.

  • Does Addition of Joe Flacco Make the Broncos a Playoff Team? by Ryan O’Halloran & Mark Kiszla Denver Post Feb
Kiszla vs. O’Halloran: Does addition of Joe Flacco make the Broncos a playoff team? By Ryan O’Halloran & Mark Kiszla Denver Post Feb. 19, 2019 Kiz: Life is weird sometimes. Looking for respite from an arctic blast of winter in Wyoming last week, I sipped on a rye in Joe’s, which is proud to be the smallest bar in Rock Springs. And I was rocked by the news the Broncos had agreed to a trade for Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco. At first, I thought it must be a joke. Still do. Does football operations chief John Elway seriously think Flacco can be the key to a playoff run in 2019? O’Halloran: I was also surprised since it seems like the Broncos were bidding against themselves for Flacco instead of waiting for him to get released. I highly doubt Elway believes Flacco is the key for the Broncos to be 2019 contenders. And Elway shouldn’t believe Flacco represents even a big piece toward returning to respectability. Over the last four years, Flacco is 24-27 as a starter with 64 touchdowns and 46 interceptions. He is a long way removed from his lights-out postseason in 2012 in which he led the Ravens to the Super Bowl. The Broncos need to add many more players to be playoff-good. Kiz: OK, I get it. The Broncos have had better luck during the past 20 years with quarterbacks plucked from the recycle bin than QBs they selected in the NFL Draft. But Flacco isn’t Peyton Manning. Despite his Super Bowl ring, Flacco isn’t even Jake Plummer.

  • J.T. Barrett Discusses Ohio State Quarterbacks: Tate Martell
J.T. Barrett Discusses Ohio State Quarterbacks: Tate Martell Tate Martell is up next in the series titled J.T. Barrett Discusses Ohio State Quarterbacks, following the publication of Barrett’s perspective on Kenny Guiton, Braxton Miller and Cardale Jones, and most recently, Dwayne Haskins. Barrett and Martell spent just one year together after Martell enrolled at Ohio State as part of the talent-laden 2017 class, which also included J.K. Dobbins, Jeff Okudah and Chase Young. Martell took a redshirt during the 2017 season, while Barrett set Ohio State single-season records for touchdowns responsible for and passing scores (which would later be broken by Haskins). Despite the fact that Martell did not suit up in scarlet and gray that year, the two spent an abundance of time together in meetings and on the practice field. Making due of his practice reps, Martell was able to impress Barrett as he observed from the sidelines. “My guy Tate, he’s like a little jitterbug or something,” Barrett told Buckeye Sports Bulletin of Martell. “When he first got there, I wasn’t aware of how quick and fast he was. Rolling out, scrambling, still able to make plays in the pocket, but once he’s outside the pocket, is he going to throw? Or is he going to run? Of the people I played with, Braxton was the best at running without a doubt, and I’ll say Tate is right behind him as far as his ability to move and make somebody miss, whether it be in the open field or just rolling around in the pocket.
