:BARKBY is a parish and village distant 5 miles from Leicester, and 1l from railway station, in the north division of the county, hun­ dred of East Goscote, union of Barrow-on-Soar, county court district of Leicester, diocese of , archdeaconry of Leicester, and rural deanery of Goscote. The church, dedicated to St Mary, is a fine, hand­ some structure, with lofty spire. The living is a vicarage, in the gift of W. A. Pochin, Esq. The Rev. :Edward Hatch Hoare, ltLA., is the vicar.
