Irish Song Lyrics From Irish Song Lyrics from www.traditionalmusic.co.uk Inter Milan We all set out from Dublin town, from Calton and from County Down, Cork, New York and Glasgow from Boston and Chicago We all got on the aeroplanes and all Italia's greatest names, landed up in Portugal to take on Glasgow Celtic, Everything was going to plan, when Glasgow Celtic beat Inter Milan. It being on the 25th of May, the kids all had a holiday, the sun was shining down and all the windows they were open, Some watched in the Squirrel bar, in Lynch's and in Benny's bar, some watched in the Traders and some in Derry Treanors, everyone was a Celtic fan, when Glasgow Celtic beat Inter Milan. Celtic went out to attack, but soon got caught out at the back, up stepped big Mazzola to slot away a penalty Celtic rallied to the call but Sarti coped well with the ball, and Inter were so fortunate to be one up at half time, They said "catch us if you can" when Glasgow Celtic beat Inter Milan. The second half got under way, the Celts put on a great display of attacking football that made Inter run for cover, Gemmell brought us level and the cup was surely settled when a shot from Bobby Murdoch was deflected in by Chalmers, Now the score line read 2-1, when Glasgow Celtic beat Inter Milan. We all went out to celebrate, the bus came down the Gallowgate, then on to Celtic Park to hail a lorry load of heroes, The European Cup displayed, the Coatbridge Harp and Flute band played, and everyone was singing "we're the champions of Europe, And Jock Stein is the man, when Glasgow Celtic beat Inter Milan. It's over 30 years ago, now we watch the game on video, Bertie Auld and Willie O will sign your scarf before you go, Down in Baird's bar for the crack, it brings the memories flooding back, when all of Europe realised the cup belonged in Paradise, We sang through the land, when Glasgow Celtic beat Inter Milan. Perhaps not surprisingly this longitudinal study of behaviours and social outcomes continues to demonstrate the inter-connectedness of so many aspects of human action and, more controversially, suggests that we can do much to predict and divert such behaviours. In her analysis Professor McAra draws together the contributing factors which may promote or enable offending, including poverty, education, upbringing, environment, culture and opportunity, and robustly makes the case for earlier intervention and prevention to divert those young people who are most at risk of becoming ‘offenders’ into more productive behaviour patterns. On the night someone said to me: “That sounds like she is reading the Apex manifesto”; and I have to agree with them.

  • Celtic FC V Manchester United FC MATCH PRESS KIT Celtic Park, Glasgow Tuesday, 21 November 2006 - 20:45CET Group F - Matchday 5
Celtic FC v Manchester United FC MATCH PRESS KIT Celtic Park, Glasgow Tuesday, 21 November 2006 - 20:45CET Group F - Matchday 5 Motivation will definitely not be a problem when Celtic FC lock horns with Manchester United FC in Glasgow. Defeat for both teams on Matchday 4 has raised the stakes even higher in a contest in which a point for United will guarantee their progression to the knockout rounds. A win or draw will be enough for United, with maximum points securing them top spot. Celtic, meanwhile, can qualify if they win and the other Group F fixture between SL Benfica and FC København ends all-square. A 1-0 or 2-1 win, or any victory by a two-goal margin, would also be enough provided København do not win. Add the traditional spice of any Anglo-Scottish encounter and a gripping evening beckons. • Celtic's hopes of advancing from the group stage for the first time were dented by a 3-0 loss at Benfica on 1 November. There was no way back after going two down early on through a tenth-minute Gary Caldwell own goal and Nuno Gomes effort (22). Andrei Karyaka added a third goal 14 minutes from time. • That defeat maintained Celtic's miserable away record in the UEFA Champions League, where over four campaigns they have still not managed a win or clean sheet on their travels. Home comforts • At home the Scottish champions are a different proposition, with eight victories in eleven games. These statistics suggest Celtic must get the right result against United if they are to avoid falling at this hurdle again.

  • Celtic 1970.Pdf
Celtic's run to the 1970 European Cup final by Tom Brogan Originally published on the State of the Game website in September and October 2006 Celtic's 1970 European Cup Campaign – From Beginnings To The Quarter Finals Celtic open their Champions' League campaign on Wednesday against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Their UEFA Cup Final appearance in 2003 gave the current support a taste of European success that fans of earlier generations enjoyed for a number of years. While I was watching The History of Football DVD it focused on the rise of Northern Europe in the game. This began at club level with Celtic's 1967 European Cup win over Inter Milan. Three years after their triumph in Lisbon, Celtic returned to the European Cup Final, this time in Milan, to play Dutch champions Feyenoord. As I watched the goals from that match it dawned on me that although I had seen the 1967 success many times on TV, I had never seen the highlights from the 1970 game before. As a result of this I thought now might be a time to have a look at the campaign that saw The Bhoys fall at the final hurdle in their quest for a second European trophy. Their run to the 1970 final saw dramatic comebacks, sensational climaxes, records being broken, a 'Battle of Britain' and some truly memorable matches. First Round – First Leg September 17th 1969 FC Basel 0 – 0 Celtic (Att: 38,000) Celtic opened their campaign in September of 1969 away to FC Basel of Switzerland, who were managed by the former German international Helmut Benthaus.
