VICE Studios UK producing new historical crime doc for Channel 5

London. Thursday, 17th September. VICE Studios, the global production and distribution ​ division of VICE Media Group (VMG), is set to produce a new three part documentary series, : Hidden Victims (w/t), for Channel 5 in the UK, providing a new take on ​ historical crime documentaries and debunking the myths and mistruths around the infamous murderer Jack the Ripper.

Across three episodes (3x60’), three experts - a historian, a forensic psychologist and an expert in policing methods - will re-examine the five horrific murders through a modern lens, uncovering new insights into what happened to the women at the hands of the brutal historical .

From a modern-day incident room, the three experts will re-examine evidence from the 1800s as well as providing new perspective and context into Victorian in the style of a live linear investigation. Jack the Ripper: Hidden Victims (w/t), which airs on Channel 5 ​ ​ later this year, will detail the lives and deaths of the very real women who were horrifically murdered by Jack the Ripper and are all too often forgotten: Mary “Polly” Ann Nichols; ; ; Catherine Eddowes and .

VICE’s documentary offers a new take on the Ripper myth, uncovering new revelations and retelling the familiar story in a new and contemporary way.”

Co-Executive Producer at VICE Studios, Lexi Rose, added: “By placing the victims at the heart of the programme, alongside the use of expert analysis and insight, the documentary will give viewers a modern, compelling and engaging take on a well known historic crime in a way only VICE can do.”

The true crime-style documentary will go into production this month with filming taking place in locations across London. Yonni Usiskin and Lexi Rose will executive produce the series for VICE Studios alongside Daniel Louw from Channel 5. Guy Templeton is series director and producer.
