HKA Guide to H-E-B Meyerland HEB Meyerland Overview: HEB Meyerland has seven kosher production areas certified by HKA and is supervised by three full-time Mashgichim. Please note: All kosher production areas are certified by MKT as well except the coffee shop which is Chalav Stam and only certified by HKA. Prepackaged kosher products offered for sale are NOT certified by HKA and should be individually inspected for approved kosher symbols. All kosher products produced in HEB are labeled with colored HKA kosher labels. The colored labeling system is as follows: 1. Red – Meat 2. Green – Pareve 3. Orange – Fish (Pareve) 4. Blue - Dairy Kosher Bakery Located underneath sign “Certified Kosher Bakery” Important Note: There are two completely separate bakeries located in HEB. One is kosher-pareve and the other is NOT KOSHER. Please pay close attention to the signage and ensure everything you are purchasing has a green HKA Kosher label. Kosher bakery produces breads, bagels, tortillas, bolillo rolls and some cakes. Custom cakes ordered from the kosher bakery are kosher-pareve as well. Open display products must have green HKA kosher label on display price tag. BAKERY PRODUCTS WITHOUT A GREEN HKA KOSHER LABEL ARE NOT KOSHER! Version Two – 2/2/20 Page 1 of 4 Prepackaged kosher products offered for sale are NOT certified by HKA and should be individually inspected for approved kosher symbols. Roastery (Coffee Shop) Coffee Shop - All beverages and sandwiches produced in the coffee shop are kosher-dairy and assumed to be Chalav Stam. Meat and Pareve sandwiches are produced in a different production area. Chalav Yisrael milk and whipped cream may be available upon request – ask for “Jewish Milk”. Egg and tuna prepackaged sandwiches – Kosher-pareve when displaying HKA green label. Cheese and cream cheese sandwiches – kosher-dairy when prepacked and displaying blue kosher label or when custom-made in coffee shop. Deli prepackaged sandwiches – Kosher-meat when displaying red HKA label and additional kosher label on underside of package signed by the mashgiach. Currently, bread sandwiches are Pas Yisroel; Wraps and pita chips in snack trays are NOT Pas Yisroel. Packaged coffee beans and grinds – Kosher-pareve when displaying HKA logo on package. Produce Guacamole – Kosher-pareve when displaying HKA green label. Fruit and Vegetable Juices – Kosher-pareve when displaying HKA green label. Kosher Meat and Poultry Displayed across from the non-kosher seafood counter. Meat and Poultry – Kosher-meat when displaying red HKA label and additional kosher label on underside of package signed by the mashgiach. Shechita certification/company is initialed on underside of package (e.g. SH = Shor Habor). Version Two – 2/2/20 Page 2 of 4 Kosher Dairy Displayed directly behind meat display area. Dairy products are NOT certified by HKA and should be individually inspected for approved kosher symbols and/or Chalav Yisroel status. Sushi/Seafood Displayed in endcap of kosher meat and dairy refrigerator. Kosher sushi and seafood are produced in a dedicated kosher area and are exclusively available in dedicated kosher displays. Sushi and seafood counters are NOT kosher-certified. Seafood - Kosher-pareve when displaying HKA green label and signed by mashgiach. Sushi - Kosher-pareve when displaying HKA green label. Sushi containing fish must be signed by mashgiach. Kosher Frozen Department Located across from kosher dairy display. Kosher Dry Goods Located in aisle three.
