PROJECT PROFILES Applied Electronics Enables Remote Link with McMahon Stadium Cameras from Scotiabank Saddledome Control Room for Calgary Stampeders Pushing the boundaries of technological innovation, Applied Electronics designed and built a fiber optic-based system to remotely link six cameras at McMahon Stadium to the control room at the Scotiabank Saddledome arena, which is 10 kilometres away, during a Calgary Stampeders football game. The transmission of audio and video signals to and from the Scoreboard at McMahon Stadium was controlled by the operators in the Saddledome control room. Calgary Sports & Entertainment approached Applied Electronics in the spring of 2015 with the goal to eliminate the rental production truck cost for each game and increase efficiency by sharing technical resources between the Saddledome and McMahon Stadium. The concept to control McMahon Stadium cameras, produce content and display game day entertainment on the stadium’s scoreboard from the Saddledome control room was innovative. The successful design and integration of a fully functional, one-of-a-kind system with no content delay is the first of its kind in Canada.

Applied Electronics Builds Massive 46-foot Curved Video Wall for MTO Traffic Operations Centre in Toronto

Applied Electronics was awarded the MTO Toronto Traffic Operations Centre contract in 2014 to design and integrate a curved 4x8 array of thirty-two 70-inch Barco OverView OL series LED-lit video wall modules into the newly-constructed control facility. The massive 46-foot 16:9 video monitor wall is ideal for this type of mission-critical control room, which requires guaranteed uptime – especially during special events, such as the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Games, when increased traffic in the City was expected. Applied Electronics equipped multiple meeting spaces and multi- purpose rooms with 55-inch and 70-inch LED LCD display monitors, large 109-inch Draper motorized front projection systems, microphone and audio systems, audio and video conferencing systems, wireless presentation systems, and Crestron control functionality, which all integrates with the video wall’s Control Room Management Suite and Display Content Management System (CMS). Applied Electronics Temporarily Relocates MTQ’s Integrated Traffic Management System to Construct their New Control Centre

The Ministère des Transports du Québec’s (MTQ) Integrated Traffic Management Centre (ITMC) in Montreal, which monitors the Ville Marie Tunnel, required an upgrade to its facility and underwent renovation. Applied Electronics won the contract to relocate the existing Traffic Management System into a temporary space, and upgrade the new facility’s video surveillance display system from a baseband system to a video-over-IP network architecture. The renovation project entailed, but was not limited to: the construction of a temporary building to relocate the existing office spaces; the installation of a temporary Traffic Management System in the temporary space; and the dismantling of the existing Traffic Control Center. Once the temporary traffic management system was 100% operational, the refurbishing of the new Control Center commenced. For the newly built ITMC Control Centre, Applied Electronics designed and integrated a large video wall system based on the Barco Networked Visualization System.
