Hashem is aware of the shortcomings of man – and gave us tips and tricks to overcome our natural tendencies in its proper place throughout his tenure in the Beis HaMikdash. The Sefer HaChinuch points out that if you visualize the amount of clothes worn by every kohen, it results in him being completely clothed from head to toe. An immensely tall hat was combined with an ankle-length full tunic covering a pair of long trousers. The ensemble was completed with the sash, numer- ous yards of material woven around the kohen’s body. And for what purpose? It was to ensure that the kohen would constantly remember where he was and the mag- nitude of his service. Any time he looked anywhere on his body, he would see the kutones. Anytime he tried to lift his head or move his arms, he would feel the weight of the mitznefes and avneit. He needed constant re- minders to focus the entirety of his being and actions solely on serving Hashem.
