ITINERARY Day 1: Sunday, October 18, 2020 - Venice (Embark) Arrive at Venice Marco Polo International Airport, where Board Uniworld’s S.S. La Venezia in Venice and enjoy the evening on the Venetian Lagoon. Day 2: Monday, October 19, 2020 - Venice (Riva Dei Sette Martiri) With your early morning arrival at Doge’s Palace, you’ll be able to marvel at the estate in total peace. Wander through a Venetian neighborhood and experience daily life in a typical Venetian residential quarter. Later in the evening, cap the day off with a private once-in-a-lifetime experience at an after-hours lighting ceremony inside St. Mark’s Basilica without the crowds. Back onboard, enjoy a welcome cocktail on the top deck with St. Mark’s Basilica and the Canal Grande as your backdrop. A special Captain’s Welcome Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you this evening. Featured Excursions: A morning walk in Venice with Doge’s Palace visit and_private after-hours visit to Saint Mark's Basilica Day 3: Tuesday, October 20, 2020 - Venice (Riva Dei Sette Martiri), Chioggia, Porto Viro, Polesella The S.S. La Venezia sails from Venice, cruising through the lagoon, past the Lido, the colorful fishermen’s houses of Pellestrina and the huge ongoing flood-control project called MOSE (which is designed to protect Venice from rising seawater), before docking in Chioggia, sometimes called “Little Venice,” at the southern end of the lagoon. Join a local expert for a stroll around this picturesque fishing village, a popular place for artists, or “Let's Go” with a bike ride along the beaches lining the lagoon, or, for something really unique, hop aboard a small boat to go mussel harvesting with local fishermen out in the lagoon. The seaside air and sweeping views are simply spectacular. IMPORTANT: We are obliged to comply with Italian Maritime Authorities who require that the ship is only manned by crew during the Adriatic Sea passage. You can visit the village’s bustling once-a-week market—a colorful and boisterous scene, and quintessentially Italian. Featured Excursions: Chioggia market visit and night tour in Burano Day 6: Friday, October 23, 2020 - Venice Islands (Burano, Mazzorbo, Torcello) Venice is an island surrounded by hundreds of smaller islands, three of which you’ll visit today—Burano, famous for its lace-makers and houses painted in eye-popping colors; Mazzorbo, where you’ll taste a historic golden-hued wine; and Torcello, home to beautiful Byzantine mosaics. While on Mazzorbo, you will be treated to a very special wine tasting from a saltwater-tolerant heirloom grape, Dorona,which has been planted here to yield a luscious golden wine. Stroll through Burano’s rainbow of colorful home and visit a lace- making atelier. Featured Excursion: Magic Island Day: hidden treasures of the lagoon Day 7: Saturday, October 24, 2020 - Venice (San Basilio) As your water taxi glides past narrow side canals and the Canal Grande, you’ll arrive in style to the Rialto Bridge and Fondaco dei Tedeschi. The iconic stone arch bridge sits at the narrowest point of the Canal Grande and holds numerous shops and restaruants. Today, you’ll be able to enjoy a tour of the Accademia Gallery with an art-historian guide or for lovers of food and wine, immerse yourself in a true farm-to-table epicurean experience. You can embark on a “Do as the Locals Do” walking tour to the famous fish and produce market next to the Rialto Bridge. A special Captain’s Farewell Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you this evening.
