It allows users to text, video and voice call over the internet. Users can also call landlines and mobiles at competitive rates using Skype credit, premium accounts and subscriptions. Skype uses P2P technology to connect users on a multitude of platforms including desktop, mobile and tablet. The call quality (depending on your internet signal) and additional features like conversation history, conference calling and secure file transfer are excellent. There have been some criticisms over the programs bandwidth usage and security vulnerabilities. New & Mac Features. Once you’ve downloaded and installed Skype, you will need to create a user profile and unique Skype name. You can then search for other users in the Skype directory or call them directly using their Skype name. Voice chat comes with conference calling, secure file transfer and a highly secure end to end encryption. Video chat is available on higher bandwidth connections and makes keeping up with distant family/friends much more interactive. Video conferencing and the Screenshare features make Skype popular with the corporate market. Skype’s text chat client features group chat, chat history, message editing and emoticons. Skype also enables calls to landlines and mobiles using a premium paid service. Easy to Use. Skype’s UI is very intuitive and easy to use. All the classic messaging service features like profiles, online status, contacts and recent history are displayed in the left navigation. Here you will also find the Skype directory, group options, a search box and premium calling buttons. The right side (main window) opens the content you select. For individual contacts you will see a text message box, chat history and calling options. Call Quality. On fast internet connections Skype call quality is excellent for both voice and video calls. That being said, if you do have a slower internet connection, voice calls may be interrupted or delayed. Video calls will be intermittent and pixelated. For example, if you configured Hybrid for Exchange, SharePoint, or Skype for Business, and if Modern Authentication (ADAL) is not enabled for the tenant, Office 365 uses OrgID authentication. This feature, also known as "Lync signs in second,” enables the client to use existing Office 365 stored credentials to authenticate to Azure Active Directory (AAD) and query for the user’s SIP address. If the query is successful, the client uses the SIP address and stored credentials to automatically sign in to Skype for Business Online. In previous client versions, users were always challenged for their SIP address and credentials to access the Skype for Business Online tenant, even if they had valid Office 365 credentials stored on the computer. If the stored credentials are not valid, or if the SIP address query to AAD fails, the client reverts to the previous behavior and challenges the user for valid credentials. Abstract Instant messaging applications continue to grow in popularity as a means of communicating and sharing multimedia files. The information contained within these applications can prove invaluable to law enforcement in the investigation of crimes. Kik messenger is a recently introduced instant messaging application that has become very popular in a short period of time, especially among young users. The novelty of Kik means that there has been little forensic examination conducted on this application. This study addresses this issue by investigating Kik messenger on Apple iOS devices.

To study the factors which influence the adoption of software applications across cultures, the application design was studied by researchers in both individualistic and collectivistic societies. Most of such studies concentrated on the application design from the developer's point of view. Differently, this research study empirically explores the factors that influence the adoption of smartphone apps, such as WhatsApp, from the user's perspective. Therefore, the focus in this paper is on the moderating effect of Hofstede’s cross- cultures dimension, individualism vs. collectivism (IDV), and the interconnection between the persuasive system design (PSD) and acceptance. A total of 488 responses were collected from societies which span on the spectrum of IDV to include two individualistic societies, Netherlands and Germany, and two collectivistic societies, Malaysia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The overall results indicate that persuasive design principles are relevant to cultures across the globe.
