Create Your Own Character
In our class novel, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, there are many mythical, magical and fairytale characters. Some of these characters can be half human half animal, or animals that talk, or are part tree or river. Have a go at drawing your own mythical creature. Here are some pictures of Narnian creatures to help you.
Faun Mr Tumnus is a faun. This means he has legs, horns and a tail like a goat. He has the face and body of a man. Fauns are tame creatures who like music, dancing and springtime. Mr Tumnus likes to wear a scarf in winter, carry and umbrella and loves to eat sardines!
Talking Animals
Mr and Mrs Beaver are talking animals. This means they are larger
than normal beavers and can do some things humans can do. Things like talking, sewing, cooking, cleaning. The live in a cosy
little dam, furnished like a house.
What could your talking animal be? Where would they live? What
are their hobbies?
Narnian Dwarfs
Narnia has lots of dwarfs. Some are good and some are bad. Before some of the dwarfs worked for the white witch, they were miners, blacksmiths and carpenters. This means they were very good at building things with wood, metal and gems.
Nymphs and Dryads These creatures are mentioned only a couple of times in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. In the story they are magical people who live in the river and in the trees. They can make the trees and rivers move.
Centaurs In The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, centaurs are good friends with Aslan. They are creatures that are half horse, half person. The are very wise and strong and very useful in battle.
