External Peer reviewers have approved all the proposed items of Western Region to be undertaken during the Field Season 2012 – 13. 2. The Field Season Programme Volume of Western Region for the Field Season 2012 – 13 has been prepared and circulated. 3. Field officers are in the process of applying for RCA / NRCA for undertaking the FSP item at the earliest possible time. 4. The significant achievement during the period is the finding of a large copper prospect in Khera Block of Mundiyawas Khera area, Alwar District, Rajasthan. This is the first report of such large deposit from Alwar Basin and might turn out to be the largest occurrence in Western India. 5. All the field items, based on the availability of the personnel, scheduled to be taken up from October, 2010, have been executed. Six STM and 5 GCM items, 2 GPM item, 1 geomorphologic and lineament mapping item and 1 Hyperspectral mapping item under Mission-I have been taken up and completed. Under Mission-II, out of 22 investigations, 21 investigations have been executed. However, 1 item involving drilling has faced problem for want of permission from Forest Department. The item has been kept in abeyance. Communication is on with the forest department for obtaining the necessary approval and the item will be executed in future. The drilling machine has been shifted to a new location for its proper deployment. In Mission-IV, 6 out of 7 items have been taken up. One Item on Paleontology has been discontinued because of the transfer of personnel. However one officer has been inducted in the Palaeontology Division and a fresh programme on Palaeontology has been launched and completed. The total number of items taken up in the initial period of the FS 2010 –2012 is 41. With the induction of 26 new geologists in the region from 34th OCG, a few more new programmes had been launched under Mission – I and Mission – II and executed successfully. 6. Important mineral investigations executed include phosphorite in Aravallis, gold in Banswara, copper in Pur-Banera and Nim ka Thana belts and in Alwar basin, lignite in Nagaur, REE in Pali and titaniferous bauxite in Kachchh. 7. During the current field season, an additional resource of 0.07 MT of gold has been estimated in Bhukia area, Banswara district, Rajasthan augmenting the resource to 105.81 MT (with 0.5 g/t gold at 1 meter stopping width) with associated copper, cobalt and nickel. At 0.5 g/t gold at 2 meter stopping width the total resources are 91.74 MT. At 0.20% cut off and 2 m stoping width a total of 27.57 MT of Copper resources with 0.39% average grade have been estimated. Additional resource of copper has been estimated in the Khera Block, Mundiyawas Khera area, Alwar district. Based on the analytical results of the first borehole and part of the second borehole about 15 million tonnes of copper with 0.30% Cu has been estimated. Significant Pb-Zn mineralization has been intersected in the borehole in the Salampura block, Pur-Banera belt, Bhilwara district, and Cu mineralization in the Mahawa block, Sikar district, Rajasthan. The REE mineralization in Dhani Granite, Pali district, Rajasthan, is hosted in the granite as well as in the pseudo-tachylite veins along the brittle – ductile shear zone. Additional resource of Limestone (441.70 million tonnes of SMS grade and 514.84 million tones of Cement grade) has been estimated during the current field season. 8. From 33rd OCG batch the number of geologists joined at Jaipur and Gandhinagar are 18 and 5 respectively. All of them have been assigned field items, 17 in Mission-I (13 in Rajasthan i WR Geological Survey of India Unit & 4 in Gujarat Unit) and 6 in Mission-II (5 in Rajasthan Unit & 1 in Gujarat Unit). Due care has been taken for guidance wherever new geologists are not associated with experienced geologists, either through guidance from the experienced geologists from nearby camps or by the supervisory officers. The newly inducted officers have completd their assigned work successfully. 9. All post-2004 unpublished reports (till date 399 reports) are uploaded. No report is pending for uploading. 10. About pre-2004 reports, keying has been started in August through outsourcing and 2420 reports have been keyed in. The number of reports uploaded till date is after scrutiny is 1101 11. Out of 4499 record of Metadata, 1688 records are of sponsored projects and reports of other regions and departments. Such reports have not been uploaded but only being recorded. Uploading of metadata has been completed. 12. In the absence of Hyperion data (to be provided by SAC, Ahmedabad), ASTRA data and ETM data have been used for the Hyperspectral Mapping in Gujarat. Hyperion data available in the south of Zawar area have been utilized. Proposals have been sent to CHQ for the purchase of Spectroradiometer and related software, one each for Rajasthan and Gujarat units. 13. Significant progress has been made in the analysis of number of NGCM samples (ICP-MS) by introducing double shifts and working on Sundays and Saturdays. Analysis of NGCM samples up to FS 2009-10 of Package-A (XRF-22 elements) and Package-H (ICPMS-26 elements) has been completed. Out of the samples received for the Field Season 2010 – 12, analyses of 259 samples have been completed for Package A (XRF); 14 for Package B; 166 for Package C; 102 for Package D; 505 for Package F; 352 for Package G and 605 samples for Package – H (ICPMS).
