Background: • The background is stitched using Pepper Pot 105 and Silk Lame SL124 using the Hesitation .

Northern Red Oak: • The acorn top is stitched using Vineyard Silk T-807 in the Trellis Cross Stitch. • The acorn bottom is stitched using Impressions 1115 in Kennan Stitch. • The leaf is stitched using Gloriana #096 (3 ply) using the Alternating Continental Stitch.

Lighthouse: • Stitch the roof using Pepper Pot 016 stitch using the Continental or Basketweave stitch. • The silver lines are stitched using Kreinik 101 #12 using the . The white glass panes are stitched with Pepper Pot 002 using a Cashmere Variation. • The top red row is stitched using Pepper Pot 016 in tent stitch. • The middle red row is stitched using Pepper Pot 119 using Slanted Gobelin. • The bottom red row is stitched using Pepper Pot 016 using Slanted Gobelin. • The body of the tower is stitched using Pepper Pot 002 and Pepper Pot 004 in Interlocking Gobelin. • The window is stitched using Silk Lame Braid SL01 using tent stitch. • The house roof is stitched using Pepper Pot 016 in Diagonal . • The walls of the house are stitched using Pepper Pot 002 and Pepper Pot 004 in Slanted (over 2). • The water is stitched using Silk Lame SL140 using Woven Plait. • The sun is stitched using Silk Lame SL 191 using Basketweave or tent stitch.

Lightbulb (Edison): • The lightbulb is stitched using Silk Lame Braid SL34 and SL111 using the . • The base is stitched using Kreinik 101 #12 using Kalem Stitch going horizontally.

Eastern or American Goldfinch: • The tree branch is stitched using Vineyard T-807 Alternating Oblong Cross going horizontally, tent stitch the branches. • The leaves are stitched using Pepper Pot 080 and Gloriana 096 (4 ply) using Slanted Gobelin stitch. • The body of the Goldfinch is stitched using Vineyard C-164 using the Diagonal Roumanian stitch. • The black wing is and crest are stitched using Silk Lame Braid SL01 in Diagonal . • The gold wing is stitched using Vineyard C-229 using T stitch. Common Blue Violets: • The leaves are stitched using Gloriana 096 (4 ply) using basketweave or tent stitch. • The petals are stitched using River 4mm 23/25 using a Chenille Needle. Bring the ribbon up at center going to the outer edge of petal and then pierce the ribbon and pull gently leaving a small curl at the edge of the petal. • Overlap each petal slightly. • Center of flower is stitched using Vineyard Silk C-164 in French knots clustered to fill center.

Crown and Roses (Atlantic City/Miss America): • Note: Do not stitch the three round circles. • The crown is stitched using Kreinik 101 #12 using basketweave or tent stitch. The three circles are covered by Sundance Beads-Rhinestones (Scarlet) using beading thread. • The leaves of the roses are stitched using Gloriana 096 (4 ply) using Slanted Gobelin. • The roses are stitched using River Silks 236/157 using the twisted ribbon technique. Cluster the roses together. o This stitch is done by bringing the ribbon to the front and then twisting the ribbon from needle to canvas making a loose coil. Go back into the same hole pulling ribbon gently and guiding ribbon with your free hand. The ribbon pulls into itself forming a ribbon rose, stop before you pull your rose back through the canvas. Use your beading thread to tack the ribbon down and securing it. ▪ This is a hard stitch to explain, I would recommend that you visit You Tube and look at Needlepoint Ribbon Roses. There are some very good videos of this technique.
