Pepin shown standing Pepin le Bref Baldwin II, Margrave of Flanders 2 Continental Ancestors Before Hastings Saints, nuns, bishops, brewers, dukes and even kings among them David Anderson March 12, 2016 Abstract Early on, our motivation for studying the ancestors of the Chicago Rodger’s was to determine if, according to rumor, they are descendants of any of the Scottish Earls of Bothwell. We relied mostly on two resources on the Internet: Ancestry.com and Scotlandspeople.gov.uk. We have been subscribers of both. Finding the ancestral lines connecting the Chicago Rodger’s to one or more of the Scottish Earls of Bothwell was the most time consuming and difficult undertaking in generating the results shown in a later book of this series of three books. It shouldn’t be very surprising that once we found Earls in Scotland we would also find Kings and Queens, which we did. The ancestral line that connects to the Earls of Bothwell goes through Helen Heath (1831-1902) who was the mother and/or grandmother of the Chicago Rodger’s She was the paternal grandmother of my grandfather, Alfred Heath Rodger. Within this Heath ancestral tree we found four lines of ancestry without any evident errors or ambiguities. Three of those four lines reach just one Earl of Bothwell, the 1st, and the fourth line reaches the 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

  • Devotion to the Sacred Heart
DEVOTION TO THE SACRED HEART THE MORNING OFFERING The morning offering is the means by which all our thoughts, words and actions of each succeeding day are directed in a special way towards God’s glory. It may be made in thought, in the heart only, or in words. The following is perhaps the shortest and most common form used: O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you the prayers, works and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of your divine Heart, in union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass. By this simple offering, the life of each individual becomes wholly consecrated each day to our divine Lord and his interests. Hour by hour, moment by moment, second by second, as we go through the routine of our daily life, we gain merits which enable our Lord to dispense more of his graces and to give help to sorely tried souls, whose eternal destiny is perhaps trembling in the balance and depends upon the very grace which our morning offering empowers him to give. When we give our merits to Christ and leave their application to him, he can dispense the grace as he knows best and in the most useful way to mankind. The value and efficacy of the merits which we offer by the daily morning oblation are immeasurably enhanced by being offered in union with the sacrifice of the Mass, the oblation of which our Lord himself offers daily upon our altars. Thus, by the daily gift of love, our lives are made an unbroken prayer; they are blended into constant prayerful union with the ineffable supplications of the pleading Heart of Jesus upon our altars, and become useful and helpful to him in realising more fully his unquenchable desire for the salvation and sanctification of the souls of men.

The image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was everywhere in evidence, largely due to the Franciscan devotion to the Five Wounds and to the Jesuits placing the image on the title-page of their books and on the walls of their churches. Download as PDF Printable version. Those who favour purity of rite are opposed to the devotion, while those who are in favour of the devotion cite it as a point of commonality with their Latin Catholic brethren. The Heart of the Good Shepherd tells us that his love is limitless; it is never exhausted and it never gives up. The wounds and crown of thorns allude to the manner of Jesus' death , while the fire represents the transformative power of divine love. She was born before the Protestant Reformation and died almost 20 years after the closing of the Council of Trent. In order to be a father, the priest has to be a son first; a son who commits mistakes and asks for forgiveness; a son who trusts and loves his father; a son who humbly accepts to be corrected; a son who responds with respect and love. Dear brother priests, let us ask the Lord Jesus for the grace to learn for ourselves something of the pastoral plan of Saint John Mary Vianney! In a humble yet genuine way, every priest must aim for a similar identification.

  • Entry Into the Sacred Heart Is for Everyone
Entry into the Sacred Heart is for Everyone March 2009 Dear Friends of the Heart of Christ, There is a scene in The Passion of the Christ movie that gives me much thought for this Lenten Sacred Heart reflection. On Mount Calvary at the time when Jesus dies for us, one of the soldiers present takes his long spear and thrusts it into the ribs of Christ-aiming right for his heart. Jesus seems to have expired and this will not leave any doubt. Gathering storm clouds urge him on for he does not want to be caught in the violent winds and rains that have begun to pelt him. Recall the characters played by the soldiers and the terrible sufferings they wreck on Jesus. They are portrayed as heartless, mocking, crude, there to do a job and be over with it. Inflicting suffering on others makes them feel powerful, in control, dominant. As the centurion takes his long, steel-tipped spear and jabs it into the flesh of the dead Christ, a stream of blood and water literally flies out at him spurting over him into his face and eyes. In an instant he is changed. He is no longer the arrogant, jesting, hard-hearted person he was but is transformed both physically and spiritually. He thus proclaims, “In truth this man was the Son of God.” Tradition has named this soldier Longinus-a latinized form of the Greek word longche which means spear. A statue of him as Saint Longinus appears in the Vatican by the famous artist Bernini.

Biographical Data Information about the life of Saint Mary Euphrasia has come to us from the writings of Bishop Pasquier, Canon Portais, Father Emile George, Denise Pezzoli, and (Sister) Marie Dominique Poinsenet. We shall develop five elements which show how Rose Virginie Pelletier is prepared for her mission. 1. The climate of faith, charity, and service in which the Pelletier family lived, and the courage of Mme. Pelletier in facing the ordeals which beset her enkindled in Rose Virginie a similar spirit of faith, love, and service. 2. A series of circumstances led Rose Virginie to Tours. After the death of her husband in 1806, Mme. Pelletier left Noirmoutier for Soullans for the sake of her children's future. Madame Choblet, a friend of Madame Pelletier and a native of Soullans, had just opened a school which had a good reputation in Tours and which offered a sound religious education. She agreed to accept Rose Virginie as a pupil. This boarding school was situated near the Monastery of Our Lady of Charity. Founded on October 28, 1714, then abandoned during the Revolution of 1789, this monastery was reopened in 1806, just four years before the arrival of Rose Virginie Pelletier in Tours.

  • Blessed Maria Droste Project
Blessed Maria Droste Project 1 Blessed Maria Droste Project Introduction Though the Canonization process of Blessed Maria Droste was suspended, we continue to be highly motivated to work on the theme “Integrating contemplation and action in the life of Blessed Maria Droste zu Vischering”. In fact, this theme was a central topic in her religious life. Sr. Gudula Busch, our German expert on Maria Droste, speaking at the centenary of her death on June 1999, captured the essence of her integration of the apostolic and contemplative dimensions as follows: “Maria had an unusually active apostolic life firmly grounded in contemplation and mysticism. She had to dig deep to find the well in the desert that prevented her from drying out in the heat of hard routine.” (Centering life, p.4) “Integration of contemplation and action” is obviously also the lifelong task for each of us and a permanent challenge in our lives. Bl. Maria Droste also knew these difficulties and struggled with them. How do we experience the challenge of integrating contemplation and action? We are now offering you some selected passages from the documents of Blessed Maria Droste to help understand her spirituality. This is followed by 62 personal testimonies of our Sisters and Mission Partners, who kindly agreed to share their particular experiences in trying to integrate contemplation and action in their lives. Among them Sr. Gudula Busch has shared her personal lifelong devotion to Blessed Maria Droste. These stories reveal a variety of faith journeys and apostolic experiences. They encourage a renewal of apostolic zeal and open up new perspectives for risking together for Mission.

The Pious Universal Union of the Children of the Divine Will Official Newsletter for “The Pious Universal Union of the Children of the Divine Will –USA” Come Supreme Will, down to reign in Your Kingdom on earth and in our hearts! ROGATE! FIAT ! “May the Divine Will always be blessed!” June 1 A.D. 2021 – Saint Anniable Maria Di Francia Calendar for the Traditional Roman Rite …Know, that I no longer occupy myself with almost anything of the other things of my Institutes, since I dedicated myself completely to the great Work of the Divine Will. I talk about it with people of (docile) spirit; I engage in conversation about this topic with whomever I best can; I promote it as much as I can, even in my Institutes. 1 Hannibal Mary Di Francia (1851-1927) Hannibal Mary Di Francia was born in Messina, Italy, on July 5 A,D, 1851. His father Francis was a knight, the Marquises of St. Catherine of Jonio, Papal Vice-Consul and Honorary Captain of the Navy. His mother, Anna Toscano, also belonged to an aristocratic family. The third of four children, he lost his father when he was only fifteen months old. The sad experience of losing a parent made him deeply sensitive to the plight of children bereft of parents and this, influenced his life and his educational system. In childhood he developed such love for the Eucharist that he was allowed to receive Communion daily, something quite exceptional in those days. He was only seventeen when, at prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament, he was given the "revelation of Rogate", that is, he deeply felt that vocations in the Church come only through prayer.
