Tandridge Neighbourhood Watch Bulletin BULLETIN 25 December 5th – December 19th 2019 Dear Neighbourhood Watch Members You will read in this Bulletin about the blue Ford Focus car that has been suspected of being involved in a number of thefts of tools from vans in the Tandridge area during December. I can do no better than repeat the quote PC Wayne Stephens in our Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood team placed on our Facebook page last week. “We want the community to know that whilst it may seem through the power of social media that the Police are not doing anything about this type of crime we want the people of Tandridge to rest assured that lots of work has been going on behind the scenes and will continue to be done to help recover stolen items, try to identify those responsible, bring them to justice and prevent further offences.” However I would also comment that you can all help us by logging the serial numbers of your tools, garden machinery etc. at www.immobilise.com and also mark them with your postcode. If we find them in possession of suspects or abandoned we can then return them to you and it may assist us in progressing prosecutions against the suspects. As this is the last Neighbourhood Watch Bulletin this year all my colleagues join me in wishing all our readers a Happy, Healthy and Safe Christmas and New Year Dan Gutierrez Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Inspector If your area is not referred to below it is because we have not been informed of the crime or it has not been affected by reported crime in the categories below. Feedback from you will help to achieve the most appropriate circulation of information. CRIME REPORTS IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD Our Area Patrol Team and Safer Neighbourhood Team deal with a variety of incidents. Here are a few they dealt with over the last two weeks. On December 7th in Lingfield a male driver was found asleep and slumped over the driving wheel. After failing a breath test he was arrested and charged with being in charge of a vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit. On December 8th in Caterham on the Hill a vehicle was followed by police until a male decamped from it and after a short pursuit was detained. A number of Class A and Class B drugs were found nearby and the male is currently released under investigation. On December 11th in South Nutfield a male was located at home after having been reported driving off from a pub in an intoxicated condition. He refused a breath test and was arrested for that and for resisting arrest. Charges will follow on completion of the investigation. Following a number of thefts from vans across the Tandridge area in December we have been actively seeking the suspect vehicle involved. The Ford Focus, on false plates, was spotted by our Roads Policing Colleagues on December 13th but the vehicle sped off. The vehicle was abandoned near Hamsey Green School in Warlingham where the 3 male suspects ran off through the school. Sadly after an extensive search the males were not located but the vehicle, which had been stolen earlier in the month, has been recovered with a quantity of suspected stolen tools in the boot. Thank you to everyone at the scene that helped us while we carried out our searches. Enquiries continue… We have put photos of some of the stolen tools on our Tandridge Beat Facebook page. Please contact us if you think they may be yours. On December 11th two males were arrested in the Titsey Hill area for possession of a number of catapults and an air rifle. It is suspected they had been poaching as a number of dead pheasants were found and they had driven a vehicle onto private land causing criminal damage. Enquiries are ongoing.
