windows 10 home download install media Installing Pro instead of Home. I purchased Windows 10 Pro directly from . I downloaded and ran the Media Installation Tool. It did not give me an option to select Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro, it just had the option "Windows 10". I ran it from a computer that was already running Pro, and selected the checkbox that told it to "Select the best options for this computer", hoping that would put Pro on it. But sadly, it keeps installing Windows Home on my new computer instead of Pro. I then go to the Activation center on the new computer, and tell it I have a key to upgrade to Pro, enter the key I received when I purchased Pro, and it keeps erroring out. I am 100% sure I'm typing in the license key correctly. Does anyone know how I can install Pro directly instead of Home? I really don't like this whole idea of doing an install, and THEN immediately an upgrade, that's so inefficient! And maybe the license key will work properly when I have the correct edition installed. Edit to add: Clarification: I am putting the installer on a USB stick to install Windows on a 2nd computer. Windows 10 volume license media. With each release of Windows 10, volume license media is made available on the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) and other relevant channels such as for Business, Windows Update Services (WSUS), and Visual Studio Subscriptions. When you select a product, for example “Windows 10 Enterprise” or “Windows 10 Education”, you can then choose the specific release by clicking Download and choosing the Download Method , Language , and Operating system Type (bitness). In Windows 10, version 1709 the packaging of volume licensing media and upgrade packages is different than it has been for previous releases. The following section explains this change. Windows 10, version 1709. Windows 10, version 1709 is available starting on 10/17/2017 in all relevant distribution channels. Note: An updated Windows ADK for Windows 10 is also available. For ISOs that you download from the VLSC or Visual Studio Subscriptions, you can still search for the individual Windows editions. However, each of these editions (Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Enterprise, and Windows 10 Education) will point to the same ISO file, so you only need to download the ISO once. A single Windows image (WIM) file is included in the ISO that contains all the volume licensing images: When using the contents of these ISOs with tools such as the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, make sure you select the appropriate image index in any task sequences that you create or update. For packages published to Update Services (WSUS), you’ll also notice the change because, instead of having separate packages for each Windows edition, there will be just one package: Title Classification Description Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709, Upgrades Package to upgrade Windows 10 Pro (VL), Windows 10 Enterprise, or Windows 10 Education to version 1709 and 8.1 upgrade to Windows 10, version 1709, Upgrades Package to upgrade Windows 7 Professional (VL), Windows 7 Enterprise, .1 Professional (VL), or Windows 8.1 Enterprise to Windows 10 1709. When you approve one of these packages, it applies to all of the editions. This Semi-Annual Channel release of Windows 10 continues the Windows as a service methodology. To create bootable Windows 10 Installation Media (on another PC if necessary) install Media Creation Tool and follow the directions in the middle of the download page here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m. Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key for your PC maker given in this chart: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor. If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first. Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered, then on second screen choose Install Now, then Custom Install, then at the drive selection screen delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space to get it cleanest, select the Unallocated Space, click Next to let it create and format the needed partitions and start install - this makes it foolproof.
