Travel Trade Partnerships Deliver Exclusive “Frozen” Experiences Travel Trade Press Release Travel trade partnerships deliver exclusive “Frozen” experiences Hong Kong Disneyland Resort works with travel trade to offer unique tours based on blockbuster "Frozen" story and characters (June 29, 2015, Hong Kong) – Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has rewarded customers of its highly‐valued travel trade partners with special experiences of snowy magic as part of its coolest summer ever, as Queen Elsa and the enchanting “Frozen” Village based on the animated blockbuster arrive at the theme park. More than 1,000 guests from China, Southeast Asia and Taiwan joined specially tailored group tours or FIT packages designed by the resort and its travel trade partners and enjoyed exclusive experiences of the “Frozen” Village on June 20‐21 and June 27‐28. “The animated blockbuster ‘Frozen’ has captured the imagination of fans worldwide since its premiere. All the ‘Frozen’‐themed entertainment, souvenirs and food and beverage items introduced in Hong Kong Disneyland Resort have been hugely popular with ‘Frozen’ fans,” says Martin Leung, Travel Trade Sales Director, Hong Kong and International, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. “To take the ‘Frozen’ experience to another level, the resort worked with travel trade partners to tailor‐make dedicated ‘Frozen’ tours and travel packages that immersed guests in the coolest summer they've ever experienced. The resort will continue to leverage the synergy of Disney’s powerful stories and characters in win‐win partnerships with the travel industry to bring refreshingly unique experiences for their customers, who are also our guests,” says Mr. Leung. Cool tours like no others The dedicated “Frozen” tours, designed around the snow‐filled experiences at “Frozen” Village, are unique in their own way with varied offers and itineraries to cater to different markets, yet invariably surprise guests with how much cool fun they can have in the sizzling summer heat. The “Frozen” adventure started with the “Frozen” Festival Show, a special musical performance starring Queen Elsa, Princess Anna and Kristoff. In this 20‐minute experience, guests sing along to fan‐favorite songs from “Frozen," ending with an emotionally‐charged finale of “Let it Go” when Queen Elsa uses her magic to trigger mesmerizing flurries of snow inside the Crown Jewel Theater. Guests got to feel cool snow in their hands again as they stepped into the “Frozen” Festival Square where they can build a snowman with their own hands. On the “Olaf’s Ice Slide” created by Queen Elsa with her power, they can hop on a toboggan to enjoy a quick adrenaline rush, or seized opportunities to snap photos with lovable snowman Olaf, who loves summer and warm hugs, and the endearing reindeer Sven. Stepped out of “Frozen” Village, they also joined the Animation Academy to learn the secret of bringing Olaf to life on paper. Their memorable journey was rounded out sampling a delightful array of “Frozen” delicacies such as Olaf Mini Waffles, Olaf Lemon Tart and Olaf Cupcake, and picking up a rich collection of “Frozen” souvenirs, reminders of their coolest summer yet at the theme park. More fun beyond “Frozen” Village The “Frozen” Village, delivering wondrous snow‐filled fun in summer from now to August 30, 2015, brings yet another distinctive Disney brand of entertainment and fun to Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. Along with a rich array of more than 100 attractions and entertainment in seven themed areas, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is well placed to deliver experiences of a lifetime to the customers of travel industry partners for decades to come. # # # About Hong Kong Disneyland Hong Kong Disneyland Resort offers immersive, unique Disney experiences for all families, generations and ages to enjoy. Photo by: Deen van Meer Michael Grandage has won major awards for his theater productions, but none of his experience prepared him for his latest project. Now, he has to deal with a character with a carrot nose who's likely to melt. That's because his latest project is Disney's "Frozen." Performances of the play began on February 22. Grandage's stage version is based on the 2013 animated Disney film that made $1.3 billion around the world. Grandage and his team have been hard at work for more than a year. They hope their musical can live up to the movie. Disney Told Grandage To Be True To The Movie Grandage is new to Disney and had never directed an original musical until now. He has the difficult job of meeting the high expectations set by the "Frozen" movie. He must create new magic using whimsical characters like Olaf the Snowman and Sven the Reindeer from Elsa and Anna's kingdom of Arendelle. This article is available at 5 reading levels at https://newsela.com. No pressure! Disney challenged Grandage to be true to the original movie while still coming up with novel surprises. Which brings us back to Olaf. In the movie, he's drawn by Disney's animators as three balls of heartwarming snow. "That's your first question when you do a stage version," Grandage says.

Bull Received: 10 September 2016; Accepted: 24 March 2017; Published: 26 March 2017 Abstract: Disney’s animated feature Frozen (2013) received acclaim for presenting a powerful heroine, Elsa, who is independent of men. Elsa’s avoidance of male suitors, however, could be a result of her protective father’s admonition not to “let them in” in order for her to be a “good girl.” In addition, Elsa’s power threatens emasculation of any potential suitor suggesting that power and romance are mutually exclusive. While some might consider a princess’s focus on power to be refreshing, it is significant that the audience does not see a woman attaining a balance between exercising authority and a relationship. Instead, power is a substitute for romance. Furthermore, despite Elsa’s seemingly triumphant liberation celebrated in Let It Go, selfless love rather than independence is the key to others’ approval of her as queen. Regardless of the need for novel female characters, Elsa is just a variation on the archetypal power-hungry female villain whose lust for power replaces lust for any person, and who threatens the patriarchal status quo. The only twist is that she finds redemption through gender-stereotypical compassion.

  • Frozen: Worldwide Financial Success and a Reflection of Modern Culturalvalue
View metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.ukbrought to COREyou by 83 Frozen: Worldwide Financial Success and a Reflection of Modern CulturalValue Mai Todoroki 国際英語学部英米文化学科 4 年 轟麻衣 Even though it has been over a year since its release, "Frozen fever" isstill here. The catchy song, "Let it Go" is used for some TV commercials in Japan, anddoes not appear to be going away soon. Even Tokyo Disneyland offers a special Frozen event- a pa- rade from January to March 2016. This means that people are still enthusiastic aboutthe film. Many commentators have con- sidered the factors of the movie'ssuccess; its powerful sound- track or the content of the film. One of the most influential of Disney's animated films, Frozen was released on November 2013 in the U.S and came to Japan on March 2014. It was based on Hans Christian Andersen's book, The Snow Queen, which was published in 1844 (Wilde 143-144). There are two heroines in the film, Annaand her sister Elsa, which is unusual for Disney mov- ies. Familiallove, in particular sisterly love, is a major theme in 84 Mai Todoroki this film. Besides being the first double-heroine movie for Disney, the story seems quite common and not so special. However, accord- ing to a BBC article, Frozen made $1.219 billion worldwide and has become "the fifthhighest-grossing film in box office history" behind Avatar, Titanic, Marvel's The Avengers and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-part 2("Frozen Becomes", np). One of the main factors of its financial success was its reception in Japan.
