Cuomo to proclaim June 5, 2021, as Belmont Stakes Day in the State of New York, and commending the New York Racing Association upon the occasion of the 152nd running of the Belmont Stakes WHEREAS, The Belmont Stakes is one of the most important sporting events in New York State; it is the conclusion of thoroughbred racing's prestigious three-contest Triple Crown; and WHEREAS, Preceded by the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, the Belmont Stakes is nicknamed the "Test of the Champion" due to its grueling mile and a half distance; and WHEREAS, The Triple Crown has only been completed 12 times; the 12 horses to accomplish this historic feat are: Sir Barton, 1919; Gallant Fox, 1930; Omaha, 1935; War Admiral, 1937; Whirlaway, 1941; Count Fleet, 1943; Assault, 1946; Citation, 1948; Secretariat, 1973; Seattle Slew, 1977; Affirmed, 1978; and American Pharoah, 2015; and WHEREAS, The Belmont Stakes has drawn some of the largest sporting event crowds in New York history, including 120,139 people for the 2004 running of the race; and WHEREAS, This historic event draws tens of thousands of horse racing fans annually to Belmont Park and generates millions of dollars for New York State's economy; and WHEREAS, The Belmont Stakes is shown to a national television audience of millions of people on network television; and WHEREAS, The Belmont Stakes is named after August Belmont I, a financier who made a fortune in banking in the middle to late 1800s; he also branched out -

Project Description A. PROJECT IDENTIFICATION
Chapter 1: Project Description A. PROJECT IDENTIFICATION The City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), in coordination with USTA National Tennis Center, Incorporated (USTA)1, is seeking a number of discretionary actions in connection with proposed improvements and an expansion to the facilities at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center (NTC), located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens (see Figure 1-1). These improvements collectively are known as the NTC Strategic Vision (the proposed project). The NTC is located on a portion of Queens Block 2018, Lot 1, on park land leased by DPR to USTA. The leased site is bounded to the north by the railway tracks of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR)’s Port Washington line; United Nations Avenue North to the south; the Passerelle Building (connects LIRR’s Mets-Willets Point station to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA)’s 7 train station, and Citi Field, the New York Mets baseball stadium) and Path of the Americas to the east2; and Grand Central Parkway to the west.3 The 42-acre NTC is one of the world’s largest public recreational tennis facilities. For 11 months of the year, its facilities are open to the public for indoor and outdoor tennis; USTA maintains the facilities year-round. The NTC is also host to the US Open, one of the sport’s four Grand Slam championship tennis tournaments. The event is staged during a two-week period around the beginning of September, is attended by approximately 700,000 spectators, and is broadcast worldwide. -

Seeking the Best Method of Construction 5 Wreck Lead Bridge Mechanical Components Rehabilitation 2015-2019 Capital Program Design-Build Award 2nd Quarter 2017 Scope • The scope of this project is to provide for a mechanical overhaul of the movable bridge components of the LIRR single leaf rolling lift thru-truss bascule bridge over the Wreck Lead Channel in Island Park, Nassau. • Based upon Consultant’s inspection and testing results, bridge components will be replaced, cleaned, adjusted, re- lubricated, realigned or painted as needed to address any misalignments and to provide for the optimal balance condition during bridge operation.
