MASTERS TOURNAMENT TRAFFIC TMC PRESENTATION - 2020 WHAT IS THE MASTERS TOURNAMENT?
The Masters Tournament is hosted by the Augusta National Golf Club (ANGC) every year during the first full week of April (Sunday to Sunday).
• The tournament was first organized by Bob Jones and Clifford Roberts in 1934. • The invitational was officially named the Masters Tournament in 1939 • The first green jacket was awarded to tournament champion Sam Snead in 1949.
• Jack Nicklaus has the most Masters wins with six. • Jack Nicklaus is the oldest Masters champion at 46 in 1986. • Tiger Woods is the youngest Masters champion at 21 in 1997. • The Masters Tournament is the only golf Major to be played at the same location and same time each year. Preparation for the Masters Tournament can be divided into the following groups:

Preparation for the Masters Tournament begins in earnest late January.
• Meeting is held with the ANGC, consultants, and various city departments.
• Jacobs Engineering Group provides update on traffic control plan.
• Changes from the previous year’s tournament are reviewed and discussed

The Traffic Management Center (TMC) is essential for managing the large volume of traffic that visits Augusta each spring.
• Through the TMC, we can monitor over 40 PTZ cameras along the routes leading to and from Augusta National.
• Each traffic signal along these routes, approximately 30 signals, can be monitored individually and timing for each can be adjusted in real time.

Approximately two months after the tournament is complete, the traffic committee meets one last time to discuss observations and improvements that could be made to next year’s event. MASTERS TOURNAMENT REINSTALL EVERYDAY TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES
After the tournament is complete, it takes Traffic Engineering approximately two weeks to remove all of the Masters specific signs and return everything to normal operations. QUESTIONS?
