London Shakespeare tour 10 days/ 9 Nights DAY 1 Depart Depart USA for your flight to London. Day 2 Arrive London Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by your representative and transferred to your hotel. Take a walking tour and visit the British Museum. This evening, a Welcome Dinner at the hotel or local pub or restaurant. Overnight at the hotel. (London) Day 3 London Continental breakfast at the hotel. Today, enjoy a full day tour in London. Your first stop will be Westminster Abbey, an architectural masterpiece of the 13th to 16th centuries. Inside Westminster Abbey we will visit Poet’s Corner, which has a memorial to Shakespeare. You will then proceed on to your visit of the Tower of London. See Buckingham Palace. In the evening pre-theatre dinner followed by a visit to one of London’s top musicals or plays, subject to performance and availability. Overnight at the hotel. (London) Day 4 London-Shakespeare’s Globe This morning we will visit Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. Founded by the pioneering American actor and director Sam Wanamaker, Shakespeare's Globe is a unique international resource dedicated to the exploration of Shakespeare's work and the playhouse for which he wrote is a faithful reconstruction of the original theatre. We will have a 30 minute guided tour of the theatre reveals the story of its reconstruction and gives an exciting insight into how the ‘wooden O’ works today as an imaginative and experimental theatrical space. The tour will be followed by a 1 hour Shakespeare workshop – the workshop can be tailor-made around the Shakespeare play of your choice. After workshop enjoy a walking tour of the Bankside area and visit Southwark Cathedral. This evening we will have a pre-theatre dinner, followed by a performance of a Shakespeare play at the Globe Theatre, subject to program and availability. Overnight at the hotel. (London) Day 5 London the London Eye and the National Theatre Continental breakfast at the hotel. Cruise on the River Thames, a flight on the London Eye, followed by a backstage theatre tour and Workshop at the National Theatre. In the evening pre- theatre dinner followed by a performance at the National Theatre, or similar, subject to program and availability. Overnight at the hotel. (London) Day 6: London’s West End Theatre Continental breakfast at the hotel. Guided walking tour of London’s West End theatre district, followed by a backstage tour of the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The history of The Theatre Royal Drury Lane is brought to vivid life as key characters, writers and actors from the theatre's 300 year old past take you back through time as you look around this famous theatre. Free time in the afternoon to explore on your own. In the evening pre-theatre dinner followed by a visit to one of the West End’s musicals or plays, subject to performance and availability. Depart London and drive to the city of Oxford, home to over 39 colleges and universities. We will have a guided walking tour of the city and visit one of the famous colleges. Then continue on to Stratford-upon-Avon for a half day guided walking tour with a local guide and visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace which now has an adjoining museum with many mementos belonging to the bard. Visit Holy Trinity Church where Shakespeare is buried. Check in to your hotel. Pre theatre Dinner in Stratford, followed by a performance of the Royal Shakespeare Company – subject to program and availability. Day 8 Stratford- Royal Shakespeare Theatre English Breakfast at hotel. Continue to explore Stratford-upon-Avon with a local guide and visit more of the Shakespearean sights, including the thatched cottage and its beautiful little garden that belonged to Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare’s wife. Visit Mary Arden’s Farm where you will discover the Elizabethan way of life and interact with the daily domestic routine of a working farm. This was the home of Shakespeare’s grandparents and childhood home of his mother, Mary Arden. Pre theatre dinner in Stratford, followed by a performance of the Royal Shakespeare Company – subject to program and availability. Overnight at the hotel. (Stratford-upon-Avon area) Day 9 Stratford- Royal Shakespeare Theatre-Return to London English breakfast at hotel. Guided tour and workshop of a Shakespeare play of your choice at the Royal Shakespeare Company Courtyard Theatre in Stratford. Afternoon return to London. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight in London. Day 10 Depart London Continental breakfast in the hotel.
