The purpose of this procurement is to purchase of materials for the fabrication of a containerized wood drying kiln and related items for the implementation of UNIDO activities under its Strengthening Training Centres for Green Employment in the SADC Region project.

Thermostat system will require a robust design for use at various locations o This kiln will be used as a demonstration kiln Humidistat o The containerized wood drying kiln will need submissions to identify the basic details of the humidistat that will be used in conjunction with the de-humidifier system. 9 o This kiln is designed to be a mobile solution for small plantation 1 operators. Any de-humidifying system will need to have the basic details reported. o The system must be designed for use as a working, mobile, containerized wood dryingkiln Controlled Heating/Dehumidifier System o The containerized wood drying kiln will need submissions to identify the basic details of the proposed heating/dehumidifier system that will be used to lower the moisture content of and sawn lumber . o The system will need to be able to be located in a plantation and be 10 capable of drying wood in combination with an initial air dry 1 treatment (involving stickering practices) o The system must be suitable for use with the proposed power supply that is reported for item 11. o This mobile kiln is expected to be easily replicated by project partners and should comprise basic easy to replicate components that would be available in larger South African industrial supply shops Electrical (Power Supply, Load Control, Panel Boxes, Wiring) o Supply power for containerized wood kiln. The power supply system should be able to run off an appropriate sized generator o Offers that include a component of solar energy are strongly encouraged o Power supply to the kiln will need to be stable and have a load control 11 1 Kit system identified. o Basic details on panel box design and simple electrical map for the kiln are requested o All electrical works should be easy to replicate by our project partners, robust for mobile training/demo use, and involve parts that are available in larger industrial supply stores in South Africa

III. NOTES FOR THE INVITEES:

1. The goods to be supplied should be unused and of the most recent or current models or stock lines, incorporating all recent improvements in design and components. 2. Offers to be made in English in US dollars (*) or local currency without tax and custom duties, including the transport cost to the final delivery point 3. Warranty: The goods will have a standard manufacturer’s warranty. This should be a minimum of 1 year. Bidder to propose warranty terms in their offer. 4. Your bid should be accompanied by adequate technical documentation and catalogue(s) and other printed material or pertinent information (preferably in English). 5. Delivery Period: From the date of signing the contract. The successful bidder will deliver the requested goods within 30 days. 6. The equipment and in this request should comply with the relevant safety specifications, standards and regulations; and 7. Bidder should clearly state and provide information of the official after-sales service provider operating in Kwazulu-Natal State, South Africa that will be providing post-sales support including the location of the service agent, supplier of spare parts, etc.
