  • Starspangledbanner Ready to Fly High
SATURDAY, 15 DECEMBER 2018 crop produced 14 runners that achieved RPRs in excess of 95, STARSPANGLEDBANNER with five of those reaching in excess of 110. It's hard not to view this as a sensational performance given the low numbers of READY TO FLY HIGH foals produced from a i15,000 covering fee. However, his subfertility put paid to his prospects of producing bigger crops in the years that followed, with his efforts in 2012 prior to being returned to training yielding just 11 foals in 2013. That would prove to be his last season covering mares in Ireland until 2016, with small crops of foals from mostly moderate mares in Australia in the meantime. Despite these restricted opportunities, Starspangledbanner still showed what he could do as a sire, with his 2015 crop in Australia producing the listed winner and Group 2-placed performer Thrillster (Aus) as well as the exciting Hong Kong-based sprinter Styling City (Aus), who has won four of his first six starts. Cont. p2 Starspangledbanner | Coolmore IN TDN AMERICA TODAY By Kevin Blake Over two years ago, the tale of Starspangledbanner (Aus) WINSTAR JUSTIFIES LOOKING TO THE FUTURE (Choisir {Aus}) was recounted on these pages. His WinStar’s Elliott Walden takes a look ahead after a dream year in dual-hemisphere racing career saw him become one of the top 2018. Chris McGrath has the story. Click or tap here to go sprinters on the planet and an unusual complication with his straight to TDN America. ownership saw a 5% share in him being sold on an Australian bloodstock trading website.

(8 Starters) Overseas Expert Column by Wally Pyrah An all-star cast includes wonder mare GOLDIKOVA –winner of 14 Group 1’s – and considered the best equine female in world. The Freddie Head trained mare will be an odds-on favourite to provide back-to-back victories in a race she dominated twelve months ago. Connections took a gamble when they ran her on unsuitably soft ground over 1600mtrs in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville in August and paid the price. The wonder-filly was caught close home by IMMORTAL VERSE with Italian rival WORTHADD back in 9th place. Back to her optimum trip and favoured fast ground possibly, GOLDIKOVA will take a lot of beating. UK challenger DREAM AHEAD steps up in trip from 1200mtrs following two Group 1 victories in the ultra-competitive July Cup at Newmarket, and Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock. Trainer David Simcock has always believed he is capable of winning over 1400mtrs plus and here will be his chance to prove it. Irish trained challenger BEWITCHED is an interesting challenger. Following her 1400mtrs success over Group class ZOFFANY in Ireland in May, the DANSILI filly subsequently disappointed when made favourite for the Golden Jubilee over 1200mtrs at Royal Ascot in June.
