Qatar Prix De La Foret (Group 1) S1-6 3:30 P.M 9:30 P.M. HK TIME (2.10.2011) Qatar Prix de la Foret (Group 1) S1-6 3:30 P.M. LOCAL TIME (2.10.2011) Longchamp Racecourse - Turf Track - 1400 Metres (Right-handed) For 3 years old and upwards. Weights: 3yo 126lb; 4yo+ 128lb. Allowances: fillies and mares about 3.3lb. Total Prize Money (EUR) €300,000 1st €171,420, 2nd €68,580, 3rd €34,290, 4th €17,130, 5th €8,580. (8 Starters) Overseas Expert Column by Wally Pyrah An all-star cast includes wonder mare GOLDIKOVA –winner of 14 Group 1’s – and considered the best equine female in world. The Freddie Head trained mare will be an odds-on favourite to provide back-to-back victories in a race she dominated twelve months ago. Connections took a gamble when they ran her on unsuitably soft ground over 1600mtrs in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville in August and paid the price. The wonder-filly was caught close home by IMMORTAL VERSE with Italian rival WORTHADD back in 9th place. Back to her optimum trip and favoured fast ground possibly, GOLDIKOVA will take a lot of beating. UK challenger DREAM AHEAD steps up in trip from 1200mtrs following two Group 1 victories in the ultra-competitive July Cup at Newmarket, and Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock. Trainer David Simcock has always believed he is capable of winning over 1400mtrs plus and here will be his chance to prove it. Irish trained challenger BEWITCHED is an interesting challenger. Following her 1400mtrs success over Group class ZOFFANY in Ireland in May, the DANSILI filly subsequently disappointed when made favourite for the Golden Jubilee over 1200mtrs at Royal Ascot in June. She then finished eighth, beaten six lengths by DREAM AHEAD in the Betfred Sprint Cup, but can be forgiven from that performance, as she had a far from trouble-free passage and is clearly better than that. Her recent comfortable success in the Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh, indicates she is back to her best, and she rates a decent each-way proposition. Italian hope WORTHADD may have disappointed at Deauville but that was the first time he had finished out of the frame in a dozen races – winning eight times. Another local French favourite MARCHAND D’OR maybe getting on in years but he has a dozen career wins and has been consistent over today’s 1400mtrs distance. Nunca he entendido esa apreciación.

Golden Horn, Gleneagles Slated to Finally Meet in Irish Champion The much anticipated matchup between star European miler GLENEAGLES (IRE) and fellow standout GOLDEN HORN (GB) appears set to finally take place Saturday in Leopardstown’s $1.33 million “Win and You’re In” QIPCO Irish Champion (GI), with an eight-horse field in place, and a berth in the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf going to the winner. The Irish Champion is one of three Challenge races at Leopardstown and highlights a weekend that features 10 total “Win and You’re In” races, including the prestigious Ricoh Woodbine Mile (GI) Sunday. A rainy forecast for Friday has caused Leopardstown officials to move the Irish Champion to the outside course, and to start Saturday’s race about one hour earlier in the program. The connections of both Coolmore’s Gleneagles and Anthony Oppenheimer’s Golden Horn, the pair of 3-year-old standouts are expected to meet in the 1 ¼-mile race after the latter withdrew from a potential clash in the “Win and You’re In” Juddmonte International (GI) at York August 19 due to the soft turf.

  • Don't Dream It's Over
TUESDAY, 22 OCTOBER 2019 THE WEEKLY WRAP: DON'T YEARLING ACTION RETURNS TO DEAUVILLE FOR ARQANA OCTOBER By Emma Berry DREAM IT'S OVER DEAUVILLE, France-There is little let-up in the packed European sales calendar. Tattersalls brought down the shutters on its October marathon on Saturday afternoon but by Monday morning Goffs was back in action with its Autumn Sale and today (Tuesday) sees the start of the four-day Arqana October Sale. This understudy to the flamboyant August yearling sale in Deauville has traditionally been conducted in two parts but this year it has a distinct grading system for each day, with the seemingly strongest set of yearlings offered in the opening session. The sale's clash with a three-day race meeting in the town means that the first two days of trade will not begin until 3 p.m. That may be just as well for those looking at yearlings on Monday who had to spend plenty of time dodging heavy seaside showers. Cont. p5 IN TDN AMERICA TODAY Kameko (left), will bid to reverse the Royal Lodge form with Royal Dornoch in the G1 Vertem Futurity Trophy. | Racing Post FASIG-TIPTON KY OCTOBER BEGAN MONDAY The Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale began in Lexington, KY on Monday. Brian DiDonato has the full scoop. Click or tap here to go straight to TDN America. By Emma Berry We are in that strange week of the year after Champions Day, with much tweeting about the end of the Flat season but with at least one highly informative juvenile race yet to be run.
