Freycinet Challenge 2017 Information Booklet 4adventure Crew Mark , Louise, Row & Ben Welcome 2017 will see a changing of the guard as Tim Saul passes over the reins of the Freycinet Challenge after 16 years. Tim created and developed the Freycinet Challenge to become the most iconic Multisport event in Tasmania and arguably Australia. We wish to thank Tim for nurturing this wonderfully unique event. We all have many memories of the Challenge from the days when we needed a full support crew as the road rider endured a lonely cycle to Dolphin Sands (Swansea) to tag the kayaker to paddle back across the lagoon to Coles Bay, a time when the support crew and vehicles were as important and necessary as the team. To the funny mishaps of hearing the gun start Day 2 as competitors are getting out of their car, then remembering daylight savings began last night. To the regular social teams and workplaces that field a few teams each year as employees and mates battle it out for bragging rights. Many people are regulars to tackle the challenge and we look forward to hearing people recall and share these stories throughout the weekend over a Brew. For those that are just ‘learning the ropes’ in Multisport events, take a moment and listen to these stories or mistakes so it is not you in 2017! We wish you fresh legs and solid arms as you power your way through the challenges you and your team will be faced with over the weekend. Please take a moment to read through our comprehensive Race Booklet to ensure you are not the entrant who sleeps in or is still warming up while your team mate is waiting to tag you! Challenge Yourself, Challenge Your Mates, YOU have accepted the Challenge. See you on the start line. 4adventure Crew – Mark, Lou, Ben & Row Thanks to our naming Sponsor EVENT SCHEDULE Friday October 13th Location Time Number collection Iluka Tavern 6.00-7.30pm Race Briefing Iluka Tavern 7.30pm Saturday 14th October Number collection Info Tent at Race 6.30-7.15am Transition (NOT AT RACE START) START Wineglass Bay Car 8.00am- Pack Individuals 8.05am - Team Competitors First runner due back Race Transition 9.10am (approx.)
