Hulme, Moss Side and Rusholme Neighbourhood Mosaic Profile Summary • There are just over 21,300 households in the Hulme, Moss Side and Rusholme Neighbourhood. • The neighbourhood contains a range of different household types clustered within different parts of the area. Moss Side is dominated by relatively deprived, transient single people renting low cost accommodation whereas Hulme and Rusholme wards contain larger concentrations of relatively affluent young people and students. • Over 60% of households in Moss Side contain people whose social circumstances suggest that they may need high or very high levels of support to help them manage their own health and prevent them becoming high users of acute healthcare services in the future. However, the proportion of households in the other parts of the neighbourhood estimated to require this levels of support is much lower. This reflects the distribution of different types of household within the locality as described above. Introduction This profile provides more detailed information about the people who live in different parts of the neighbourhood. It draws heavily on the insights that can be gained from the Mosaic population segmentation tool. What is Mosaic? Mosaic is a population segmentation tool that uses a range of data and analytical methods to provide insights into the lifestyles and behaviours of the public in order to help make more informed decisions. Over 850 million pieces of information across 450 different types of data are condensed using the latest analytical techniques to identify 15 summary groups and 66 detailed types that are easy to interpret and understand. Mosaic’s consistent segmentation can also provide a ‘common currency’ across partners within the city. -

Bike Parking and Facilities We have bike parking facilities at each of our hospital sites, please use the registration link below in order to receive location details. They usually consist of covered bike pods or access to covered bike stands where you register and use the lock provided or your own lock to secure your bike and equipment inside. We also have shower and changing facilities at certain locations and departments. In addition, do check with your local ward or department to see if they have lockers or changing rooms available. You need to register in order to gain ID badge authorisation or access codes to use some of our bike facilities, but there is no charge for their use. Our collective vision is to transform public health in our region to an integrated system capable of seamless collaborations among all healthcare providers and public safety personnel with constructive engagement of patients, families, and communities. Through this integrated system, all people will have equitable access to timely, comprehensive, cost-effective, high-quality, and compassionate care. Public health is the practice of preventing disease and promoting good health within groups of people-- from small communities to entire countries. Public Health is YOUR health. It embodies everything from clean air to safe food and water, access to healthcare and safer communities. Through public health planning and prevention initiatives, the public gets sick less frequently, children grow to become healthy adults through adequate resources including health care, and our community reduces the impact of disasters by preparing people for the effects of catastrophes such as hurricanes, floods and terrorism. In preparing this Plan, the Public Health Network and its workgroups have reviewed needs assessments, utilizing data from many different sources such as community focus groups, key stakeholder interviews, and surveys. Building on this information, needs have been prioritized and work plans have been developed. This Health Improvement Plan identifies needs, goals, measurable objectives, and strategies to help us as we work together on solutions to important issues facing our community. -

Case Study: DataGM Type: Website Organisation(s): GM local authorities, Open Data Manchester, GMFRS Tags: open data, process, standards, website This was the earliest attempt in Greater Manchester to create a simple datastore that would hold important data from across the region, focussing on government transparency and providing better public services. The result was a highly functional datastore with which brought together data from a wider range of data publishers, and included a total of 371 datasets. It was ultimately not successful in creating a lasting basis for open data cooperation and access in Greater Manchester. However, it provides interesting lessons on how to proceed with future projects. Background DataGM was launched in February 2011, inspired by successful projects in North American cities, such as Track DC (now Open Data DC) in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore City Stats (now Open Baltimore). It was conceived as a one-stop-shop for key datasets on all aspects of city life. The programme emerged through a partnership between Trafford Council and the digital culture agency Future Everything. This began in 2009 when the Manchester Innovation Fund supported Future Everything to build open data innovation architecture in Greater Manchester, funded by NESTA, Manchester Council and the North West Regional Development Agency (now closed). Future Everything and Trafford Council in turn partnered with a wide range of data publishing organisations. These included local authority partners, as well as Greater Manchester Policy, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (now Transport for Greater Manchester), and the North West Strategic Health Authority. -

The application relates to an area of land measuring 0.7 hectares (1.7 Acres) located in the south east corner of Platt Fields park. The land is currently disused tennis courts, a kickabout area and parkland. The nearest park boundary is to the south, beyond which are residential properties, largely new build and conversions to flats on Wilbraham Road and Hart Road. It is proposed to construct a sculptured BMX track approximately 306 metres long by 10 metres wide. It is essentially a dirt track containing a series of bends, straights, mounds and hollows. The track together with two steel cabins usesd as offices and a store , an assembly area and a concrete hardstanding capable of taking a dismountable stand will be enclosed in a 2.4 metre high paladin fence. -

Executive Summary A summary of the findings detailed in this document Executive Summary Introduction Healthwatch England is the national consumer champion in health and care, with significant statutory powers to ensure the voice of the consumer is strengthened and heard by those who commission, deliver and regulate health and care services. The nationally-focused Healthwatch England works with 152 community-focused local Healthwatch to ensure consumers’ views are represented at both levels. This project aimed to involve local Healthwatch in Greater Manchester in collecting the public’s views on how they would like to receive services in the future and share this with the network. Greater Manchester was chosen as the first area of devolution for health and social care services. Local Healthwatch staff were involved throughout the process, to learn about deliberative engagement by taking part in the planning and facilitation of a series of deliberative events with members of the Greater Manchester population. Three policy priorities for Greater Manchester January 2017 Introduction The first metro mayor of Greater Manchester will be elected with a vision for the city and clear strategic, deliverable policies to meet it. The challenge and workload will be considerable, with powers and expectations ranging from delivering policy, to establishing the institutions and capacity for effective city-region governance. This briefing offers three priorities that address the biggest issues facing Greater Manchester. A ‘quick win’ will help the mayor to set the tone for delivery right from the start. Delivering results quickly will build trust, and show what the metro mayor is able to do for the city-region. The best ‘quick wins’ in these circumstances are high profile and of value to citizens. Strategic decisions form the framework for delivering the metro mayor’s vision. As such, the mayor will have the power to take the decisions that will make the most of the new geography of governance. While the mayor will be keen to show progress towards their vision, strategic decisions will often take longer to show outcomes, therefore careful evaluation is needed to allow for flexibility and to demonstrate the effects. A long term vision for the city will be the key election platform – it is what the mayor is working towards while in office. This should be ambitious, but reflect the real needs and potential of the city. Some aspects of the vision will be achievable within the mayor’s term in office, while others will build momentum or signal a change in direction. It is important to be clear and strike the balance of where each policy lies on this spectrum. -
