The Oseberg Ship

July 1921 The Oseberg Ship By Anton Wilhelm Broggek 4^ The ships of the Viking Age discovered in Norway count among the few national productions of antiquity that have attained world wide celebrity. And justly so, for they not only give remarkable evidence of a unique heathen burial custom, but they also bear witness to a very high culture which cannot fail to be of interest to the world outside. The Oseberg discoveries, the most remarkable and abundant anti- quarian find in Norway, contain a profusion of art, a wealth of objects and phenomena, coming from a people who just at that time, ,"^ of Europe. ^ the ninth century, began to come into contact with one-half ^ It was a great period and it has given us great monuments. We have long been acquainted with its literature. Such a superb production as Egil Skallagrimson's Sonartorrek, which is one hundred years later than the Oseberg material, is a worthy companion to it. / The Oseberg ship was dug out of the earth and caused the great- est astonishment even among Norwegians. Who could know that on that spot, an out of the way barrow on the farm of Oseberg in the parish of Slagen, a little to the north of Tcinsberg, there would be excavated the finest and most abundant antiquarian discoveries of Norway? What's the Difference? a Comparison of the Faiths Men Live By
What’s the Difference? A Comparison of the Faiths Men Live By return to religion-online 62 What’s the Difference? A Comparison of the Faiths Men Live By by Louis Cassels Louis Cassels was for many years the religion editor of United Press International. His column "Religion in America" appeared in over four hundred newspapers during the mid-nineteenth century. What’s the Difference was published in 1965 by Doubleday & Company, Inc. This book was prepared for Religion Online by Harry W. and Grace C. Adams. (ENTIRE BOOK) Cassels provides a useful guide to understanding the beliefs and unique characteristics of the different religious groups in the United States. Forward Coming from a background of religion editor of United Press International as well as a committed Protestant Christian, the author proposes to present the distinguishing beliefs of the varying theistic religions with emphasis on Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Chapter 1: The Varieties of Faith An outline of the rudimentary beliefs of atheists, hedonists, humanists, materialists (communists), pantheists, animists, polytheists and monotheists. Chapter 2: The Jewish-Christian Heritage The survival of the Jews as a self-conscious entity for forty centuries – twenty of them in often bitter estrangement from Christianity – is a historical mystery, and deserves careful analysis of the evolution of Semitic monotheism both in the Jewish understanding of covenant, Torah, messiah and obedience as well as Christian concepts of new covenant, atonement, sin and grace. Chapter 3: The Catholic-Protestant Differences Although Catholics and Protestants have been moving cautiously toward each other, real minor and major differences still separate them, including their understandings and interpretations of grace, faith, authority in governance and teaching as it relates to scripture, the role of Mary, and the sacraments. -

The DEER-WOOD Project North-Trøndelag County, Norway
The DEER-WOOD project North-Trøndelag county, Norway Skogeierforeninga Nord (Forest Owners’ Association, North) 1. Background – Nordic/ Scottish Collaboration. In February 1998, Inn-Trøndelag Forest Owners’ Association (I-T FOA, later merged into Forest Owners’ Association North) was asked by the Norwegian Forest Owners’ Federation (NFOF) to participate in a project on Managing deers across multiple land ownerships. The background for the question was: 1) that NFOF had taken the responsibility on behalf of Nordic Council of Ministers to establish cooperation between Scottish and Nordic units in forestry, 2) that an initiative had recently been made by Forestry Commission, Edinburgh, on a collaboration on deer management, 3) that an NPP-funding system had been established. Statistics of elk culled in Nord-Trøndelag county (N-T) show that around 1960 1500 elks were culled annually, 1970 600, since then an even growth so for the recent years the annual number culled has reached 4000 or more. In 1997 the venison value amounted to NOK mio 37, while the road side value of timber harvested was NOK mio 184 (average for the 90-es NOK mio 230). Since early 80-es N-T has had the following aim for deer management: ”The deer management should be practiced in order to obtain the highest possible level of production and of venison. At the same time eventual damage on agriculture, horticulture, forestry and traffic should be kept on an acceptable level. There is a general agreement that the management has been successful regarding raising the number of moose and their productivity. The number now is on a historically speaking high level. -

Utstyrsliste for materiell tilgjengelig i beredskapen for vannverket. Øvelsesplan for vannverket Sjekklister for aktuelle hendelser. 1 . ANLEGGSBESKRIVELSE FOR PRODUKSJON OG DISTRIBUSJON. 1.1. Systembeskrivelse 1.1.1. Generelt Denne rapporten beskriver: 1. -
Nye Fylkes- Og Kommunenummer - Trøndelag Fylke Stortinget Vedtok 8
59 22 24 90 90 Stein Ove Pettersen NO-0032 Oslo Org no. -

Carm. * A year ago at our anniversary convention in Washington, I offered reflections on the half-century of the Society. That took the place of the customary Survey which began in 1967. Hence this 2000 Survey reports on two years of publications. I start in customary style with three special items. The first is the 1997 Simposio Mariologico: the second is the set of cate chetical addresses by John Paul II; and the third is an article on ecumenism by a professor at the Gregorian University. The initial item is a treasure-chest of Mariological riches: Maria net mistero di Cristo pienezza del tempo e campi menta del regno.Atti dell' XI Simposio Internazionale Mari ologico Roma, 7-10 ottobre 1997 (Edizioni Marianum, Rome, 1999, xiii & 662 p.).
