Gregory Howard Woods Gregory Howard Woods III (born April 1969) is an American judge and lawyer. In 2013, he became a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Woods was born in April 1969, in Lewes, Delaware. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in 1991, from Williams College, located in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Woods was confirmed by the Senate on November 4, 2013. Woods earned his B.A., graduating magna cum laude, from Williams College in 1991. He went on to earn his J.D. from Yale Law in 1995. Gregory Woods (born in 1953 in Egypt) is a British poet. He was the Chair in Gay and Lesbian Studies at Nottingham Trent University from 1998 to 2013. He is the author of five books of literary and LGBT Studies criticism, and seven poetry collections. He is the cousin of BBC Radio 4 Today Programme presenter Justin Webb.
