February 2012 / Davos, Switzerland www.eisgala-davos.ch www.rocketmedia.at „The Champions“: World figure skating stars in the Swiss mountains In the midst of the snowy Swiss mountains the Eisgala Davos presents «The Champions» on Friday, 10 and Saturday, 11 February 2012. It promises to be a magical show of current World and European champions. On hand will be the world’s current best pair skaters Aliona Savchenko/Robin Szolkowy and Tatiana Volosozhar/Maxim Trankov, gold and silver medalists at the 2011 World Championships in Moscow. These two pairs of skaters battle each other at international competitions for the coveted top prize of being the best. Both show off beautiful, engaging choreography and the highest level of difficulty in their jumps and lifts. This year’s mega-star at the Eisgala Davos comes from Japan – the current World Champion Miki Ando. Her style is considered emotional, tender, elegant and loose. In contrast, the charming European Champion Florent Amodio is considered the cool figure skating entertainer. The brash Frenchman with the Brazilian roots sets the ice on fire. Also the two most successful Swiss figure skaters, two-time World Champion Stéphane Lambiel and 2011 European Champion Sarah Meier, glide onto the ice. A fantastic light show, video projections on the ice, plenty of acrobatics and entertainment make up the framework for the amazing athletic performances. There is also an additional delight for the spectators in Davos and those watching on TV: the usual perimeter bands will be dispensed with at the Vaillant Arena, allowing the viewer to be even closer to the happenings on the ice. Meagan Duhamel/Eric Radford (CAN) strike gold Meagan Duhamel/Eric Radford of Canada came from second place in the Short Program to strike the Pairs gold. China’s Wenjing Sui/Cong Han earned the silver medal and Aljona Savchenko/ Bruno Massot of Germany captured the bronze medal in their debut as a team at the World Championships. Duhamel/Radford put out a flawless performance to “Hometown Glory”, nailing a triple twist, side by side triple Lutz, throw quadruple Salchow, triple toe-double toe-double toe combination, a throw triple flip as well as four level-four elements. The Canadian Champions posted a new personal best of 153.81 points and totaled 231.99 points to defend their World title. “It was an out of body experience. We knew we were better than what we’ve done this season. It was to come here and do it for ourselves.     ISU Center of Excellence Oberstdorf – Pair Skating Seminar 2021 July 25 - 31 The Oberstdorf ISU Center of Excellence is hosting an international Pair Skating Seminar for the first time in summer, 2021. The seminar will be led by the 2018 Olympic Champions in Pair Skating, Aljona Savchenko & Bruno Massot. Aljona and Bruno together with an international coaching team will work with the teams to prepare on- and off-ice with their methods in preparation for the Junior Grand Prix Series and the upcoming Olympic Season 2021/2022. The seminar will culminate in a monitoring event accompanied by international judges and ISU technical specialists. Through this monitoring, the athletes and their coaches will receive useful feedback to take home with them as they continue their season´s preparations. Seminar Dates 25 - 31 of July 2021 (Arrival: 24th of July – Departure: 1st of August) Target Group Junior and Senior Level Pairs Training location The ice rink in Oberstdorf has been made world famous as many international stars have benefitted and have enjoyed optimal training conditions here.     Welcome to Oberstdorf Dear Participants, dear Team Members, Officials and Guests, It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 50th anniversary of our traditional “Nebelhorn-Trophy” in Oberstdorf. We are celebrating 50 years of uninterrupted high level skating performances with an unchanged format of the competition. The support of our friends worldwide, the trust of all international federations and the confidence of the ISU in our organization are what have made this anniversary possible in the first place. The event has been selected to host the “Official Olympic Qualification Event” for 3 times. In addition, for more than 20 years, it has been the place for the official ISU Judges’ Examination where judges from around the world can become ISU qualified judges in Figure Skating and Ice Dance. Oberstdorf has also been the event in which many important decisions were tested or created: new “Compulsory Dances”; the first official international event without Compulsory Figures; the try-out and implementation of the “New Judging System”; as well as many other tests with various ideas to compose the Panel of Judges. To honour this remarkable anniversary, we have organized a nice exhibition in the “Oberstdorf House”, showing the history of our event. We would like to encourage you to visit this display and see the pictures and exhibits of your great compatriots, who were the winners of our event.     ISU EUROPEAN FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS® 2014 January 13 – 19, 2014, Budapest / Hungary January 17, 2014 ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2014 Day Three The 2014 ISU European Figure Skating Championships continued in Budapest, Hungary, Friday with the Pairs Short Program and the Ladies Free Skating. Tatiana Volosozhar/Maxim Trankov (RUS) take Pairs Short Program Tatiana Volosozhar/Maxim Trankov of Russia took the Pairs Short Program with a new personal best score. Germany’s Aliona Savchenko/Robin Szolkowy are sitting in second place and Vera Bazarova/Yuri Larionov of Russia finished third. Volosozhar/Trankov’s performance to “Waltz Masquerade” by Aram Khatchaturian featured a big triple twist, side by side triple toeloop and a throw triple loop. The reigning European and World Champions earned a level four for the twist, the death spiral, reverse lasso lift and footwork to slightly surpass their previous personal best and own record score with now 83.98 points. “Today we skated quite well. We were nervous as we skated towards the end, next to last and the tension was high. But we were able to deal with it and skated with a good mood. In the step sequence we wanted to give everything and to go for a seasons best score, and we did it, we broke our own record. We have improved the choreography”, Trankov told the press. Skating to “When Winter Comes” in an arrangement by Andre Rieu, Savchenko/Szolkowy nailed a triple toe and collected level fours for all elements as well, but Savchenko stumbled on the landing of the throw triple flip.
