As I write this, it is cold but sunny afternoon and the frost is still there where the sun has not reached it. Snow is forecast much to the excitement of the children but not the grownups who have to try and get on with important things like getting to work and doing the shopping! There is some information about driving in winter conditions on page 13. Yes it is common sense but it is always worth checking what you have in your car – did you eat that chocolate that was there for emergencies? Whatever the weather, winter is here and that means the traditional Carol Concerts and Services in our Churches (page 15), Pantomime time (oh yes it is on page 7) and winter walks (page 11). It relates to the same geographical area covered both by its predecessors and The Birds of Dartmoor (Smaldon 2005). This comprises the area within the Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) boundary, with the addition of the china clay districts around Lee Moor, Shaugh Moor and Crownhill Down, left out of the National Park designation for political and business reasons. The bulk of the report comprises species accounts, but it also includes brief reviews of the weather in 2018, the Dartmoor Bird Report of 2008 and current Dartmoor bird projects and surveys. A more detailed description of the latter will appear in a Review of Dartmoor Bird Research 2018-19 to be published in Devon Birds in 2020 (Freshney & Reay, in prep.). The species accounts aim to provide a summary of birds recorded on Dartmoor in 2018. It is hoped that the production of the report will encourage more active submission of records and so help create a more complete picture of Dartmoor’s birds in 2019 and beyond. The records used are mostly those submitted to Devon Birds for 2018 (including those from the national BTO surveys) and assigned to the Dartmoor parent site.

He was reappointed as chair and treasurer, and Julie Gilbert acts as secretary. Minutes attached. If any Councillors wish to update Council on activities they have undertaken on behalf of the Town Council then these please submit these in advance. Forthcoming training/conferences/representation Cllr Dredge will attend the Devon County Council LGPS Annual Employers Meeting on 19th January 2021. General Information Covid-19: Beacon Medical Group have been contacted to see if they require space at The Watermark to deliver the vaccination programme and advised them that we would prioritise them as much possible. At the time of writing the national lockdown has just begun. Thanks to our planning and strong Covid-19 secure procedures implemented during the last year, work should continue as normal through a combination of home working and planned solo office use when necessary. Outdoor work will continue with the necessary precautions also. The Watermark will be closed to the public. Any legally exempt activity eg for essential health or education reasons will be facilitated and the library will be operating within the guidelines for their sector too. Communications: An article will be placed in the next edition of the Ivybridge Magazine celebrating the success of the Christmas Day hamper delivery and social visits coordinated by the Council staff, Jessica Shipp (Community Connector) and Shirley Weeks (So Social Ivybridge) in place of the normal joint lunch.
