After beginning his career as Director of Social Services at the International Institute of Boston– a refugee resettlement agency–Swann returned to Maine in 1991 to work at Preble Street. Preble Street has won several awards and national recognition for its dual efforts of providing basic, street-level services while also advocating for and building sustainable solutions to end homelessness and hunger. In 2012, Mark was a Congressional Medal of Honor finalist, chosen for the Citizen Service Before Self Honors recognizing “sacrifice for others through a prolonged series of selfless acts.” Sister Sylvia Comer ’62, RSM, former Director of Campus Ministry and member of the Sisters of Mercy Sister Sylvia Comer ’62, RSM, earned a BS in Education from Saint Joseph’s College and has worked at the College through several teaching, directorial, and pastoral roles for 29 years.
