Her firm, Winsome Sinclair & Associates, with offices in New York City, is celebrated for creating valuable jobs for many African-American and Latino actors. Sinclair is a co- founder and serves as producer for the full-service production company, Legacy Media Group. Her company founded the TV/Film Production Certificate Program at Medgar Evers College. The program, presented by Legacy Media in conjunction with Medgar Evers Personal Development Institute and affiliated with the Adult Continuing Education at Medgar Evers College, gives students hands-on training and preparation for a career in film and television production. Sinclair also serves as an instructor for the first course of its kind at the Brooklyn campus. Sinclair produced the laugh-out-loud web series, “Liza Out Loud.” She recently wrapped production on the dramatic web series, “Brooklyn Rain,” which was produced entirely by Legacy Media Group. She most recently cast 2012 Sundance Official Selections “Red Hook Summer” directed by Spike Lee and “Slavery By Another Name” directed by Sam Pollard. Sinclair is also set to produce the hip hop crime drama, Justice, written and directed by filmmaker-to-watch, Joey Mhz. She is currently producing the British crime drama, “Flowers Don’t Grow In England.” ABOUT TANECIA BRITT For director Tanecia Britt, pictures are a constant flow of concepts through her hands and eyes, depicted with more emotion than what can be seen in real life. After graduating from Johnson C. Smith University, reality became the foundation for her films. Living strictly off of her determination to become a full-time director, the self-forming entrepreneur hit the country. Working as a marketing and campaign administrator or the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago then freelancing in Atlanta, Britt soon found herself networking among some of the sharpest eyes in the South. Celebrity photographer Donna Pernell shared insight about the inner workings of the industry which motivated Britt to declare herself as an assistant director and production assistant. Continuously networking and building her name, she found herself under the direction of Eyal Sivian, professor and mentor at the University of East London. Under him she learned to shoot with a purpose and to take her time with film-making. Her creativity and relentless drive to succeed opened a niche for Internet films in which she began to market herself on the web. To date, Tanecia Britt has been a never-ending machine, cranking out films including her 2008 feature "School Without Walls" along with a multitude of shorts and music videos. Her unstoppable nature led her to team with Reset Pictures out of New York City which allowed her to feature her talents on Mark Ecko's "Cut and Sew" commercials, Talib Qweli's "Strangers" music video and Maino's "Girlfriend" music video. Currently, she is collaborating with Chyna Lane and Winsome Sinclair (“Precious,” 2009) to bring forth “Flowers Don't Grow in England,” a ruthless caricature telling the lives of three East London women. — More — ABOUT OUR SPONSORS Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC) is an independent non-profit organization designated by the Prince George’s County government to coordinate financial support and advocacy for the arts and humanities through grants, artistic programs and creative partnerships among business, education, government and residents. http://www.pgahc.org Hyattsville Community Development Corporation (Hyattsville CDC): The Hyattsville CDC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the revitalization and sustainable development of the Hyattsville community. Most 19th-century Romantic-era concertos provided occasions when a soloist, deemed to represent some passionate force, lined up against an orchestra seen as standing for altogether more ordinary things. The preferred solo instrument was always the piano or the violin — cellos, clarinets and flutes weren’t considered capable of anything like such heroic possibilities, though Dvorak was to change that with what he came up with for the cello. Wieniawski’s work isn’t shaped in this mould at all, though. For Immediate Release: IRIS and New York Women in Film & Television announce: NICOLE KIDMAN JOINS MERYL STREEP IN SUPPORTING THE WRITERS LAB The Writers Lab Provides Mentorship and Script Development for Women Screenwriters Over 40 New York City (February 1, 2018) – New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) and IRIS are pleased to announce that Academy Award, Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winning actor Nicole Kidman has joined Meryl Streep in supporting The Writers Lab. The project, established for women screenwriters over the age of 40 by NYWIFT and IRIS, in collaboration with the Writers Guild of America, East, selects leading filmmakers to provide exclusive mentorship and increase opportunities for content made by women. The program has received funding from Streep every year since its inception in 2015. Kidman joins the likes of past supporter Oprah Winfrey, who matched Streep’s donation. “What wonderful idea,” said Kidman of The Writers Lab. “A space for women to work with one another to develop the stories they want to tell. I’m a fan already.” During Kidman’s acceptance speech at the Screen Actors Guild Awards for her performance in HBO's Big Little Lies, she noted how opportunities for women are expanding: “How wonderful…that our careers today can go beyond 40 years old, because 20 years ago we were pretty washed up by this stage in our lives. That's not the case now. We've proven…that we are potent and powerful and viable," said Kidman. "I just beg that the industry stays behind us, because our stories are finally being told.

Connor: Making Things Right: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Derek Nystrom: Of Christians and Communists: Joel and Ethan Coen’s Hail, Caesar! — INTRODUCTION — Hollywood’s Self-Critique: Five Essays on Race and Class at the Movies Chris Rock’s monologue at this year’s Academy Awards — in which he called Hollywood “sorority racist” and the event itself the “White People’s Choice Awards” — was deceptively consistent with the industry’s own self-critique featured in many of this year’s top-grossing and critically acclaimed films. Hollywood, it seems, has learned to parry generic attacks on the industry’s sexism, racism, and classism with genre films that keep the system well oiled and, perhaps, the critics at bay. The five essays featured in this collection concern films that seek absolution for the industry’s consistently unsavory politics by addressing Hollywood’s politically incorrect history in their stories or backstories. Indeed, these are mostly historical films that depict racial protest and class warfare from the perspective of an industry that continually finds itself on the wrong side of American history when it comes to issues of race and class. Jerome Christensen writes about Trumbo, a biopic about Hollywood’s most successful blacklisted screenwriter, and a film whose producers nonetheless obfuscate its own shady production history.

ABSTRACT Starting from the premise that the soundtrack would be a discursive instance endowed with potentialities that add semantic value to the cinematographic work, this communication intends to analyze some constructions of narrative sense in certain works from the sonorous space that they establish comparing the treatment undertaken in two films already analyzed in this research: Cadillac Records (2008) and Honeydripper (2007). The objective is to analyze the construction of sound and sound territorialization in the two films that characterize the two regions most commonly associated to the genesis and development of the American blues: the
