The Sophomore Class this year presented Emerson College with a new and unique Hazing Program. T his program kicked off the fun and excitement that goes with being a Sophomore.

The class officers are assigned their positions for the purpose of organizing and guiding their class and to represent the ideas and desires of every class member. The Student Government Association is the most vital

and integral part of all Emerson activities. Its purpose is to serve the student body as a liaison between the student and the Administration. SGA plans and coordinates Freshman Orientation, sets up the students activities calendar, and allocates funds to student organizations. This year, under the able leadership of Frank Napal, the student-faculty liaison was strengthened and the Emerson student body was heard.

With a desire to serve and inform the College, the Berkeley Beacon this year took a step forward. Under the leadership of Editor Paul Jampolsky, new and exciting innovations in the newspaper were born. BOOSTER CLUB

Without the Booster Club, the Emerson students would not be aware of upcoming College athletic events. Its purpose is to create greater awareness of athletics among the students. Our rapidly growing Athletic Department this year kept the Club working very hard.

Black Power is the war they wage in order to once again regain

control over their minds and lives.

Black students on campus’ all over the country are uniting in the Afro-American Liberation struggle; seeking to be a viable

In 1892, Emerson College met Boston University in one of the first intercollegiate debates in the United States. Exactly 76 years later, the Class of "69 continued the tradition as Frank Napal and Joe

Boren won four debates at Boston University and subsequently brought home a first place speaker trophy.

The Forensic Society is long in tradition, a tradition that they hope to continue.

The Inter-Fraternity Council has the responsibility of providing for good communication between the campus fraternities. It consists of the president and a representative of each of the four fraternities.

One of the main functions of I.F.C. is the coordination of pledge periods, eligibility requirements for pledging, and maintenance of academic standards during pledging.

Serving the best interests of Emerson and the

College sororities at all times, is the purpose of the Pan-Hellenic Council. The President from each sorority serves as an officer in annual

Phi Alpha Tau is a national professional communicative arts fraternity that has existed at Emerson for 67 years. Tau pursues it’s goal of brotherhood through sponsoring many events that serve the community.

Perhaps the best known service of Phi Alpha Tau is the Joseph Ponnor Award, which this year was presented to Speaker John W. McCormack on December 15, 1968.

Alpha Kappa Alpha is the first Black Sorority ever established in the United States. It’s chief aim is “service to

This year's Basketball Team is a much-improved band of athletes. One of the most important reasons for their success is the availability of better facilities and the opportunities to hold more practice sessions.

This year’s team is paced by high scoring Lou Peterson. Peter Dierks, and Dave Bornstein. Co- C'aptain Dierks feels that the team will continue to show improvement.

The Cross-Country team is in its fourth year at

Emerson College and every year it’s record improves. Under the able guidance of coach James Peckham, the team looks forward to next season with hopes for the best year ever.

This year the Hockey Team played eight games losing a few more than they won. Despite this, the team is much improved over last year and so is their competition. This season they heat Belknap College convincingly while losing to Gordon College twice and a tough Burdett team once. This year's team was led by Captain Peter O’Brian and Dick Pleasants plus returning lettermen Steve Martin, Bill Auerbach- Stuart. and newcomers Ned Bunnell and Bill Eaton. Coach Blair Richardson, the player-coach from Nova Scotia, has aroused enthusiasm and dedication among the players. The future of Emerson Hockey looks promising.

The Emerson College Racing Team is a member of the New England Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association. Our team participates in regattas throughout New England. Both men and women comprise the sailing team which each Spring and Fall bring both honors and excitement to one of Emerson’s most popular sports.

Emerson’s Wrestling Team is one of the most successful and respected teams in the College. Under the able leadership of Coach Peckham, the men of the Wrestling Team have developed into a powerful league of sportsmen.

The Emerson team is a member of the New England Intercollegiate Wrestling Association and competes with such schools as Boston University. Holy Cross, and Brandeis.
