THE INAUGURATION OF CLAYTON S. ROSE Fifteenth President of Bowdoin College Saturday, October 17, 2015 10:30 a.m. Farley Field House Bowdoin College Brunswick, Maine Bricks The pattern of brick used in these materials is derived from the brick of the terrace of the Walker Art Building, which houses the Bowdoin College Museum of Art. The Walker Art Building is an anchor of Bowdoin’s historic Quad, and it is a true architectural beauty. It is also a place full of life—on warm days, the terrace is the first place you will see students and others enjoying the sunshine—and it is standing on this brick that students both begin and end their time at Bowdoin. At the end of their orientation to the College, the incoming class gathers on the terrace for their first photo as a class, and at Commencement they walk across the terrace to shake the hand of Bowdoin’s president and receive their diplomas. • Emersonian : [Emerson College Yearbook]
    — ' LJEM' i .i jc ; f. iUSlQNS ASST. D-T. 'C? / EMERSONIAN Nineteen Hundred and Sixty-Seven Emerson College Boston, Massachusetts . Eighty-Seven Years Men have tried to communicate their wants to others for centuries. The cavemen grunted at first, blind people used braille, and deaf people use their hands and fingers. The more fortunate people can just speak. But just speaking or communicating is much harder than it seems. From world leaders to everyday housewives, this Art is strived for. Many desire it but feu attain real perfection. For this reason one professor and his six students felt it necessary to begin a college of oratory. Emerson has come a long way since it was founded in 1880. as a private school, by Charles Wesley Emerson. In those days it was more commonly known as The Boston Conservatory located at Pemberton Square. So the birth of a new school with new ideas began. But just as success and time never stand still, so it was with our Emerson of today. Mr. Emerson's college began a series of moves and name changes right up until 1 908. In the cool September of 1886, the Boston Conservatory of Oratory was removed to Wesleyan Hall on Bromfield Street and named the Monroe College of Oratory. Just a short four years later, as a result of a petition to the Legisla- ture. the institution was again renamed. This time the famil- iar word Emerson came into being. It was named Emerson College of Oratory And so time continued and the college grew. Finally men were beginning to filtrate into the once all woman enroll- ment.

Russell Sage College: The Journey Toward Thriving Abstract In partnership with Russell Sage College (RSC), the following service-learning project outlines our situation analysis, literature review and application plan to implement strategies and resources to enable RSC’s strategic initiative toward becoming a college known for well-being through an initiative called Thrive@Russell Sage. Leveraging research in Positive Psychology, and best practices from other colleges and universities, our team developed a Thrive “playbook” designed to support RSC’s ability to 1) communicate and engage the RSC community 2) expand Thrive through the curriculum beginning with RSC 101, an introductory freshmen course and 3) enhance and expand Thrive through appreciative inquiry. We suggest measuring Thrive@Russell Sage impact through an annual well-being survey of students and faculty and use survey data as input to evolve their strategic plan.
