With permission from Msgr. Buchheit, I would like to share with you that I spoke to him this morning. He confirmed that he and the priests who reside at Regina Cleri were tested at Urgent Care. Msgr. Buchheit did test positive for Covid-19 but assured me that he feels great and never did feel sick. As is typical, he laughed a lot and was fully engaged in the conversation. He was in fantastic spirits. When I asked if there was anything that we could do for him, he chuckled and said: “Yes. You can get me outta here!” Msgr. Buchheit, along with the others who tested positive, is quarantined. I as- sured him of the prayerful support of our entire parish family here at Holy In- fant. He was grateful and knows that this is a good time for all of us to unite in prayer for those who have been most affected by this virus. Msgr. Buchheit shepherded our parish and led our community faithfully from 1984 -2001. His priestly ministry has been a true blessing to many of us. May I ask that we shower him with cards and notes of prayerful support and appre- ciation for his priestly ministry. Mail is an external source of comfort to those in confinement these days. Please send a note or card to: Msgr. Buchheit

#10 Archbishop May Drive Shrewsbury, MO 63119 Thanks, in advance, to all who support this parish-wide effort to show our support and appreciation. Let us continue to pray for one another, especially those whose lives have been most impacted these days.

God’s blessings!

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL In this Sunday’s Gospel, as we hear the story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus, we also come to know that our daily reaching out to our neighbor is our daily walk with the risen Christ; we recognize him in others. This month, through your gis, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul brought the love and care of Jesus to those in need. Thank You! As you donate to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, know that you are a sign of God’s love to those who are suffer- ing and you give them Easter hope and joy. Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul leads lay women and men to spiritual growth by helping them offer person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering. Our volunteers are united in an international network of charity witnessing God’s love by embracing all works of charity, making no distinction in those served because, in them, Vincentians see the face of Christ. If you are in need of help or know someone in need, please call (314) 289-6101, mailbox 2265. Leave a message and one of the volunteers will return your call. All requests are kept conidential. If you would like to support the work of St. Vincent de Paul which will be even more signiicant as we progress through this pandemic, please make your check payable to St. Vincent de Paul Society and drop it in the collection basket. Thank you for your support! THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 26, 2020

Faith. Works. Wonders. The Mission Continues!

As we enter our second month of staying at home, we know more and more of our parishioners are feeling the impact of the pandemic financially and emotionally. There are daily reports of furloughs, lay-offs, business closures as well as the grim statistics of Covid related illnesses and deaths. We know that many of our families have been economically affected by the pandemic even if only temporarily. Our Faith. Works. Wonders. program is here for you. We have established a fund for our families in need and we are working in conjunction with our St. Vincent de Paul group to help with financial hard- ships. If you need assistance with groceries, necessities, or bills, please con- tact Sandy in the Parish Office at (636) 227-7440 or [email protected]. All information is kept confidential. We are a parish family and called as one in the Body of Christ to love and care for our neighbors especially when they need it most. Many of you who are currently suffering economically are also those who would be the first to lend a hand or chip in to help your fellow parishioner—now it is time to let us help you.

Faith. Works. Wonders. is also here to provide emotional support during this time. Many of us are feeling isolated, anxious, fearful, and over- whelmed. You are not alone! We have volunteers who would love to spend time talking to you and have a cup of coffee—even if it’s over the phone. If you or someone you know, would like to hear from one of our volunteers, please contact Sandy in the Parish Office (636) 227-7440 or [email protected]

Let us continue to lift up each other in prayer!

Fr. Ed Stanger Pastor THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 26, 2020

Ministry of the Month: Eucharisc Adoraon

“I beg you to recommend to everyone, first, adoraon of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and then reverence of the most Holy Mary. “Take refuge oen at the feet of Jesus my dear ones, the visit to the Blessed Sacrament is an ex- tremely necessary way conquer the devil. There, go oen to visit Jesus and the devil will not come out victorious against you.” St. John Bosco WHO CAN COME? Everyone is welcome to come before the Lord Jesus Christ during Eucharisc adoraon. Bring your children, they are the future adorers. Invite family members, neighbors and friends to join you.

WHAT SAFETY MEASURES ARE IN PLACE? WILL EVERYONE HAVE ACCESS TO THE CHURCH? *During the day, everyone will have access to the Church, as they do now. At night, once the doors are locked, you will need the key code to enter the Church to enter the chapel. The key code will be provided aer you submit your registraon. Unl further noce, Adoraon will be in the Church. *Extensive video surveillance will also cover the inside of the building and the nightly entrance and surroundings. * A telephone is available in the chapel for emergency use only.

WHEN IS EUCHARISTIC ADORATION? Holy Infant Eucharisc Adoraon is on going twenty four hours a day, seven days a week except during: a) All Masses (weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Holy Days of Obligaon). b) Holy Days – Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Years Day, Holy Thursday aer midnight, Good Friday and Holy Saturday, c) Lent – Mission talk d) Divine Mercy Sunday, Corpus Chris e) Confirmaon night f) Holidays-Thanksgiving & Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day g) Severe weather (ice, sleet & snow) h) Un-scheduled events (bapsm, wedding & memorial mass) • Adoraon suspension announcement will be posted on the door of the adoraon chapel and adorers will be no- fied. • Two adorers are preferred; however, only one person is required to be present at all mes. • Adorers can spend their Holy Hour in prayer and adoraon in the parcular manner they prefer. • IN ANY CASE, JESUS SHOULD NOT BE LEFT UNATTENDED

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT THAT SOMEONE IS ALWAYS PRESENT? In the Catholic Church, we have many Sacramentals: the rosary, holy water, the bible, a crucifix, statues, etc. These are holy items that are given due respect for what they represent. The Eucharist is not a sacramental. It is not just an item that reminds us of Christ, it is the physical body of Christ himself. The exposion in the monstrance leaves Christ vulnerable and must be properly aended at ALL mes. Just as a Marine would never leave another fallen Marine behind, faithful Catholics would never leave Christ’s Body unaended. Ever.

D E A The Forty-Hours Devoon – Clement VIII in 1592 issued a his- toric document on what was called in Italian, Quarant Ore (Forty Hours). The devoon consisted of forty hours of connual prayer before the exposed Blessed Sacrament. About a century later in 1731, Pope Clement XIII published instrucons for the proper carry- ing out of the Forty Hours Devoon. Gradually, the Forty Hours de- voon spread throughout the Catholic world. THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 26, 2020

Ministry of the Month: Eucharisc Adoraon T F A: 1) “To me, Holy Hour is not just a me and place. It is a grace-filled opportunity to accompany God on a wondrous journey. I become closer to Him and experience Him in a profoundly new, inmate rela- onship.” Mary Weman (12 noon) 2) “In the wee hours of the morning I sit in His presence; thanking Him for the blessings He has given, place my peons at His feet, and ask for wisdom and perseverance in my bapsmal and confirma- on promises. In return, I receive peace.” Cheri Scheu (3 am) 3) “Eucharisc Adoraon offers me a guaranteed hour each week where I can quietly pray and con- verse with my Lord. It is a powerful tool in my spiritual armory that I relish and draw comfort from.” Michael Hey (Thursday 5AM) 4) “Somemes before my adoraon hour I might feel red, distracted or feeling like I don't want to go out of the house. But every me I leave the chapel, I am so happy I was there I always leave calm, at peace and knowing that the Lord loves me.” C. Buschbacher (10 pm) 5) “Vising Jesus during adoraon has been key to my true love and devoon to the Lord. Through Adoraon my faith has surged and my heart has grown so strong for Him and His beauful Blessed Mother! I am so grateful to Holy Infant for this ministry! It has been life changing!” Dana Huebner (12 noon) 6) “I have enjoyed my adoraon hours because it brings me peace as only the Lord can. This is a deeper peace than I and you can achieve in any other way. This is a quite me for my prayer & reflecon and to pray for others that need our prayers.” Lisa Scheve (7 & 8 pm) 7) “I feel so close to my Lord during this hour. I talk to Him about my concerns and also thank Him for all of my bless- ings. I thank Holy Infant for giving me this chance to share this me with the Lord.” Carol Wolf (8 pm) 8) “Eucharisc Adoraon has given me the opportunity to get away from everything and slow down. The peace and silence in the chapel helps me open my heart and mind so I can hear God. It is my calm in the storm.” Cathy Leh- man (7 pm) 9) “Adoraon has been a part of my life for more years than I can count. I have spent me there in my most joyous of days, when God was around every corner, and in my darkest of days, when searching for Him felt hopeless, be- cause He seemed nowhere to be found. But this one thing, regardless, has always been true. When I walk into that chapel and breathe in the presence of our Lord, I am always home.” Linda Herron (9 pm) 10) “Through Adoraon, God has drawn me deeper into a life of faith, given me unending strength to persevere in life no maer the disappointments or difficules, imbued me with calmness knowing He is in charge and granted me peace through trust in Him.” Theresa Rogers (9 pm)

GOD’S PLAN Peter speaks to us twice today. In the first reading, we hear an excerpt from his sermon on Pentecost; in the second, part of his first leer. Once a frightened, uneducated fisherman who oen said just the wrong thing, now Peter is speak- ing what he knows to be true. Everything Jesus had said now makes sense. His death and rising were all part of God’s plan, and our faith and hope can be centered on God. Today’s Gospel tells the story of Jesus’ walk to Emmaus with two of the disciples. Frightened, sad, and confused, the two of them don’t recognize Jesus, who tells them what we heard Peter say above: All this had to happen as part of God’s plan. In the end, these disciples recognize Jesus as we are to recognize him—in the breaking of the bread. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
