Conservative Plan for Watford Spring 2021.Pdf Watford Conservatives A CONSERVATIVE PLAN FOR WATFORD An ambitious fresh start for our town SPRING 2021 A PLAN TO RESTORE PRIDE AND HOPE IN OUR TOWN AND THE SURROUNDING DISTRICT When you were growing up in the town or when you moved to Watford, did you ever imagine you would find yourself living in just another over-developed suburb of London? After 20 years of the current Liberal Democrat administrations in Watford and neighbouring Three Rivers, that is what is happening. Watford has traditionally been a pleasant county market town. It is still a great place to live, but it is changing – and not always for the better. Over the past two decades, it has become more urban – more like Croydon than Croxley. And all the while our local taxes keep going up and the quality of local services keep going down. The local Liberal Democrats can’t even run a basic rubbish collection effectively. The service is getting worse and worse. If they can’t even empty the bins frequently, how can they get anything else right? Yet there is so much that needs to be done. We need more local jobs. Local affordable housing needs expanding. The local parking crisis needs sorting out. Local transport must get better. We need safer streets. We need to restore local pride – not turn ourselves into a suburb of London, abandoning our landmark Town Hall and possibly losing our local football club from the heart of the area. We need a fresh start. That is what we in this plan are offering. We hope you will support us. Where will they go to the doctors, dentists or school? Planning would be easier to manage, and over-development easier to resist, if Watford’s local plan was up to date. But it is well overdue, making the Council vulnerable to planning appeals. Watford’s planning incompetence is leading to disaster and needs to be stopped before it is too late. The same is true in Three Rivers District where repeated delays in publishing the local plan is giving rise to suspicions of a cover-up. The District Council is so desperate to attract developers into the South Oxhey area that it ‘let them off’ paying the amount that should really have been due to the local community in Watford Rural Parish area, including Carpenders Park and Oxhey Hall. It is not good enough for these local Liberal Democrat administrations to just blame central government targets. I consider that joining with Hayling Ward would have an adverse effect on Oxhey Hall's character and independence. The proposed new ward would not be a homogeneous un t: Oxhey Hall is a Metroland development with a distinct character that needs to be considered and part of it is a conservat on area. Hayling Ward is qu te different w th a different community. It is part of South Oxhey and the proposal could result in Oxhey Hall being subsumed into the larger area. The two areas have very little in common and vastly different needs. Oxhey Hall has a community spirit that could easily be lost through this proposal. I consider a one member Oxhey Wall Ward would be preferable. It would comprise Hampermill Lane, Brookdene Avenue, Oaklands Avenue, Raglan Gardens,Hillcroft Crescent, Vivian Close and Highlands. https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk//node/print/informed-representation/2013 08/07/2013 Dunkeyson, Nicholas From: Sent: 06 July 2013 11:34 To: Reviews@ Subject: Three Rivers District Council Boundary Review Reference: Three Rivers District Council Boundary Review To: The Review Officer (Three Rivers) Dear Sir, We live at and understand that the Boundary Commission has recommended that Moor Lane representation should be transferred to the Moor Park Ward.

  • Green Belt Assessment for Three Rivers District and Watford Borough
South Oxhey Parcel SO9 © Crown copyright and database rights 2019 Ordnance Survey 100018686 Left image View of the garden centre in the parcel Three Rivers and Watford Stage 2 Green Belt Assessment 362 October 2019 South Oxhey Parcel SO9 Description Garden supply/storage site and a grass verge on the western edge of the inset settlement of South Oxhey and close to the east of the inset settlement edge of Northwood. A tree-line marks the edge with residential development within the inset settlement of South Oxhey to the east and northeast and the A4125 and a woodland strip separate the parcel from the inset settlement edge of Northwood to the west. Woodland forms the principal component of Green Belt in this area, with the constrained Oxhey Woods Local Nature Reserve to the south linking to woodland to the west of the A4125 which arcs northwards to contain the inset settlement edge. Impact on contribution Purpose 1 Contribution - Check the unrestricted sprawl of large built-up areas South Oxhey is close enough to more contiguous urban development to the north and west to be considered to constitute part of the Limited – No contribution large built-up area extending out from Greater London. However, it has a close association with the inset settlement because of its containment between the inset edge and the A4125 and its strong distinction from the surrounding woodland. Therefore the extent to which release of the parcel would be considered sprawl of the large built up area is very limited. Purpose 2 Contribution - Prevent neighbouring towns merging into one another Potentially denser development within the parcel would result in the narrowing of the narrowest part of the settlement gap between Relatively limited South Oxhey and Northwood, which in turn would have some impact on separation between the towns of Northwood and Watford; however the tree cover to the west of the main road plays a more significant role in this respect.
