MARK DAYE & KERRI L. T. BOWMAN SATURDAY, AUGUST 25, 2018 | HILTON AKRON/FAIRLAWN CELEBRATING 50 YEARS LD Carlson is a Proud Sponsor of The 50th Anniversary Pawsibility Ball We would like to congratulate Mark Daye and Kerri Bowman for being 2018 Animal Heroes! Special thanks to the Humane Society of Summit County for taking care of the abused, abandoned and neglected animals in our community. WELCOME On behalf of the Humane Society of Summit County, I am pleased to welcome you to our 50th Anniversary Pawsibility Ball, our signature event celebrating the beloved pets who bring joy to our lives and for the benefit of those animals in our care who are still waiting to find their forever homes. Over the past 50 years, we have embraced a deep commitment to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of the animals most in need in our community. In that time, we have provided compassionate rescue services, veterinary care, and secure futures to over 50,000 animals. This year alone, we will impact the lives of an additional 2,500 animals in need. We are proud to be Summit County’s primary resource for humane services, adoption, and education. As a humane society, we represent the values of a community of people working together to care for one of our most vulnerable populations: animals who are victims of abuse, abandonment, and neglect. Our work is unique because of the services we provide which include humane law investigation, safe shelter, nutrition, veterinary care, behavioral support, and love around every corner in our no time-limit facility. While we have grown and changed in numerous ways over 50 years, our mission remains guided by resilience, gratitude, and hope – qualities we also see demonstrated in the animals we serve every day. Our work is made possible through the investment of donors, volunteers, adopters, staff, and our community at large. We are grateful every day for these partnerships that save lives and create happy endings for the deserving animals in our care. This evening we have the great pleasure of honoring the exceptional and transformative support of our 2018 Animal Heroes: Rennick and Dee Andreoli and Kerri L. T. Bowman and R. Mark Daye. Our honorees are true champions for our mission, and we are humbled by their dedication to the homeless and abused animals of Summit County. Thank you for joining our celebration of animal rescue! With gratitude, Diane Johnson President/CEO 01 Presenting the 2018 Pawsibility Ball Animal Heroes RENNICK & DEE ANDREOLI Rennick and Dee Andreoli are pillars of the Akron philanthropic community and dedicated friends of animals at the Humane Society of Summit County. As the President of RDA Hotel Management Company, Rennick has owned and operated over 30 hotels including the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn, the longest continuously owned and managed Hilton franchise in the country. The Andreolis have been supporting the Humane Society of Summit County in a transformational way for over twenty years. Most recently, they made a foundational contribution toward the construction of HSSC’s Hospitality Suite. This area of our shelter provides a dedicated area to prepare food for all our resident animals; a break room for animal care staff; and an intake clinic where all newly arrived animals receive vaccines and initial veterinary care. This addition to our shelter has been invaluable to meeting the needs of our rescued animals, staff, and volunteers. In addition to their dedicated investment in the Humane Society of Summit County’s facilities and in our rescue work through annual fund support, the Andreolis are well known for their charitable work across a variety of areas of need and have received numerous awards and recognitions for their commitment to making our community a better place, for people and animals. We are proud to honor them as Animal Heroes at our 50th Anniversary Pawsibility Ball! 02 Presenting the 2018 Pawsibility Ball Animal Heroes KERRI L. T. BOWMAN & R. MARK DAYE Since moving to the area in 2005, Kerri L .T. Bowman and her husband R. Mark Daye, both veterinarians, have dedicated their volunteerism and philanthropy to improving the lives of animals in need in Summit County. Their contributions have seen the Humane Society of Summit County through periods of transformation and have improved our services in immeasurable ways. Kerri L. T. Bowman became involved first as a volunteer and donor, then as a member of the Humane Society of Summit County Board of Directors. As a Board Member, Kerri was instrumental in the transition of the shelter from its former location on Quick Rd. to our current home in Twinsburg. At our new facility, Kerri led the establishment of the veterinary clinic which enabled our organization to provide a breadth and quality of veterinary care to our animals never achieved before. R. Mark Daye, a privately practicing veterinarian at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital, has continually supported our medical needs by donating specialty care to ill or injured animals in critical need. We are so grateful for the continued support and dedication to animal rescue and rehabilitation that Kerri and Mark have demonstrated and are proud to honor them at our 50th Anniversary Pawsibility Ball! 03 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS YOUR EVENING’S HOST Fred and Beth McLeod 6:00PM SILENT AUCTION, WINE PULL, GIFT BAG PULL Hors d’oeuvres and cash bar Music by violinist Mary Beth Ions 7:30PM WELCOME Diane Johnson, President & CEO CHAMPAGNE TOAST Rennick & Dee Andreoli ADOPTABLE ANIMALS SHOWCASE Kristin Branagan, Director of Animal Operations DINNER Silent Auction Tables Close 8:25-8:35 8:35PM 2018 ANIMAL HERO AWARDS Presented by Pat Weschler, Board Chair LIVE AUCTION Presented by Brooks Ames, Kiko Auctions FUND-A-NEED Cash for Cats! I had a pretty scary thing happen to me at the end of June 2018. My previous owner took me to a hotel with him, put me in my kennel, and then left me there all by myself. At first, I thought he would be back, but after a couple of days I started to worry that he wasn’t coming. The whole time I was on my best behavior, and I didn’t bark. I had to go potty really bad, so I did make a mess in my kennel, but it wasn’t my fault, I really wanted to go outside. I had to sleep and live in my messy kennel, and I really started to get extremely uncomfortable.” “On day four, I was very hungry, thirsty, and unsure of what my fate was going to be. I was so afraid. The hotel manager realized that the key card to the hotel room I was in hadn’t been used for four days, and there was a smell coming from my room. He entered the room to check, and he was the first hero I met that day. The second was the Humane Officer who came in and took me with her to a new place called the Humane Society of Summit County.” “I was still really scared, but everyone there was nice. They talked to me so kindly and gave me a lot of yummy food and clean fluffy blankets to lay on. They were unable to track down my previous dad to tell him that he wasn’t a nice man, and he shouldn’t have treated me like that. My days are good, I love my new home, and they tell me that one day I will have to leave them. That makes me sad, but they said that it will be amazing, and I will have a family that treats me the way I deserve and will give me unconditional love.
