The Bolshoi Ballet Academy is one of the oldest and most established schools for classical ballet training. Most of the Principal Dancers of the Bolshoi Ballet graduated from the Academy and are among the leading dancers in the world today, including Nina Ananiashvili, Vladimir Malakhov, Natalia Osipova, Alexei Ratmansky, Polina Semionova, and Nikolay Tsiskaridze, to name a few. We are honoured to invite Miss Irina Pyatkina from the Academy to give classes exclusively for HKBG members. Kindly find the enclosed schedule and application form for further details. About the Instructor Irina Pyatkina After graduating from Bolshoi Ballet Academy in 1978, Irina Pyatkina was right away invited to join the Bolshoi Ballet Theater. At the Bolshoi Theater she worked with renowned and world famous pedagogues and rehearsal directors such as Galina Ulanova, Marina Kondratieva and Raisa Struchkova. Miss Pyatkina has danced in numerous ballets choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich and Vladimir Vassiliev. During her twenty years of work at the Bolshoi Theater, Miss Pyatkina had become a principal dancer and performed leading roles in such ballets as Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Le Sylphides, Chopeniana, Petrushka, Swan Lake, Don Quixote and Legend of Love. In 1998 Miss Pyatkina graduated from Russian Academy of Theater Arts where she received a highest pedagogy education. After finishing her performing career at the Bolshoi Theater, Miss Pyatkina was invited to join the faculty at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, her alma mater. In 2005 Miss Pyatkina received a title of Master Teacher from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy where she a current faculty member of the classical ballet department. She teaches ballet technique, Pointe and repertoire classes. Miss Pyatkina had taught master classes all over the world during her bright and continuous career. Miss Pyatkina is a Honored Artist of Russian Federation the highest and most prestigious award any artist can receive in Russia. .

    Chronology 1950s 1954 - Philharmonic Society of Orange County is founded (then called Orange County Philharmonic Society). 1960s 1964 - South Coast Repertory founded by David Emmes and Martin Benson. In 1965 the company opens a theater in Newport Beach. 1967 - Irvine Master Chorale founded by Dr. Maurice Allard. Under direction of John Alexander, changes its name in 1981 to Pacific Chorale. 1969 - Newport Harbor Foundation formed, the first local group whose primary purpose it was to build a major Orange County cultural center. Feasibility studies conducted determined that Newport Beach would not be an acceptable site. 1970s 1972 - Santa Ana-based organization formed with same goal determined that suitable site would be near confluence of freeways. Nineteen sites examined. 1974 - South Coast Repertory receives commitment of the site for its planned Fourth Step Theater from the Segerstrom Family. Pacific Symphony Orchestra is founded. 1978 - SCR relocates to its newly opened $3.5 million Fourth Step Theater. The Main Stage is named for the Segerstrom Family, major donors to the Building Fund. Guilds system set up under the direction of Georgia Spooner. 1979 - The Segerstrom family donates 5-acre site on which to build the Center. 1980s 1980 - Gary Phillips and Associates organizes fundraising campaign. Henry T. Segerstrom becomes chairman of the Trustees, a special group of directors with responsibility for major fundraising.
