Sportsline & 2012 Jamboree Excellent Job and Their Messages Were Heartwarming portsline S o f t h e N o r f o l k S p o r t s C l u b Vol. #26, No. 10 October 2011 October 10th – Luncheon Meeting Charles G. “Lefty” Driesell Schedule of Legendary Collegiate Basketball Coach Events Lefty Driesell grew up in Norfolk and attended Granby High School. After playing collegiately at Duke University, he began his coaching career as JV coach at Granby in 1954 and took All meetings are held at the over as varsity coach the next year. I lusted after the various sports games advertised in the magazines until my mom finally relented and bought Strat-O-Matic Football for me in 1972. I got SOM’s baseball game a year later and I was hooked. I would get the new card set each year and attempt to play the in-progress season by moving the traded players around and turning ‘nameless player cards” into that year’s key rookies. I switched to APBA in the late ‘70’s because they started releasing some complete old season sets and the idea of playing with those really caught my fancy. Between then and the mid-nineties, I collected a lot of card sets.
