The Sumerian King List the Sumerian King List (SKL) Dates from Around 2100 BCE—Near the Time When Abram Was in Ur
BcResources Genesis The Sumerian King List The Sumerian King List (SKL) dates from around 2100 BCE—near the time when Abram was in Ur. Most ANE scholars (following Jacobsen) attribute the original form of the SKL to Utu-hejel, king of Uruk, and his desire to legiti- mize his reign after his defeat of the Gutians. Later versions included a reference or Long Chronology), 1646 (Middle to the Great Flood and prefaced the Chronology), or 1582 (Low or Short list of postdiluvian kings with a rela- Chronology). The Book of Revelation Bruce Metzger, Breaking the Code, 62
The Book of Revelation Bruce Metzger, Breaking the Code, 62 “The sequence of the opening of the seven seals, broken by chapter 7, is now resumed: one more seal is to be opened, the last. And that, one would have thought, would be the end of the drama; after the earth had received such punishment, what more could still be in store? And so, with the seventh seal, the reader expects the final cataclysm. But nothing happens. Instead, ‘there was silence in heaven for about half an hour’ (8:1). It is like the solemn hush before the bursting of a hurricane. The effect of the pause is to heighten the horror of the next series of God’s judgments, each to be announced by the sounding of a trumpet.” The Seventh Seal (8:1-6) • Silence – trembling, fear, solitude, death because of divine judgment (Psa. 31:17; Isa. 47:5; Ezek. 27:32; Zeph. 1:7, 11; Hab. 2:20; Zech. 2:13) • This is in contrast to the great noise heard thus far and is very drawn out (a half-hour of silence?!) • Like a drumroll or delay before a jury shares a verdict • Seven Angels – Jews believed there were 7 archangels who were given authority over the nations (Psa. 78:49) – these were named Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Michael, Sariel, Gabriel, and Remiel (Tobit 12:15; 1 Enoch 20; cf. Dan. 10:13; 1Thess. 4:16; Jude 9); could be cultural or merely symbolic like the other sevens throughout the book The Symbolism of Trumpets • A signal that holy war was about to begin; thus another symbol of judgment • A call to assemble for attention/war/attack (Num. -

We will be looking into the Nazca Lines , Stonehenge, Easter Islands, Olmec faces, Puma Punku, and for starters ... let's take a back step , to where many scholars believe was the beginning , OF the beginnings .... ancient Sumeria. Sumeria~ Ancient Sumerians – The Cradle of Civilization The Anicent Sumerians are thought to be one of the first urban societies. In 4000 B.C., human beings in many parts of the world still hunted their prey, tended sheep, and lived in caves or huts. The evidence of any ancient civilization was elusive.1 In 1616, an Italian traveler, Pietro della Valla, identified the city of Babylon. Not only did he provide amazing descriptions of the Mesopotamian site, but he also brought back to Europe clay bricks bearing numerous wedge-shaped marks, that he had uncovered from great earth-mounds found at Nineveh and Ur.2 Archeologists realized that each great mound, tel, held the ruins of a city rebuilt in a single place time and again. -
Seven Angels and Seven Trumpets
Seven Angels and Seven Trumpets The opening of the seventh seal in chapter 8 of Revelation leads immediately to a new series of sevens—seven angels with seven trumpets. With this new series of seven come violent signs upon the earth beginning with hail and fire mixed with blood. Though the events unfolding are dire, God’s mercy is shown through only a third dying (9:18). Some are sparred, offering yet another chance to repent. The Seven Angels—whileAngels this is the only reference within the Bible to “the seven angels,” there is a reference to them in the Book of Tobit, which was written between the time of the Old and New Testaments. Tobit 12:15 says, “I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who stand ready and enter before the glory of the Lord.” Also, the Prophecy of Enoch, an influential Jewish prophecy not found in scripture even names the seven angels as Uriel, Raguel, Michael, Sariel, Gabriel, and Remiel. These non-scriptural references would have been familiar to many in the churches who first received the Revelation to John as a letter. PlaguesPlagues—all commentators on this series of angels blowing trumpets note the similarities between the Plagues of Egypt (Exodus 7-10, Psalm 78:44, 105:27-36 and Amos 4:6-11) and the disasters that come here in Revelation. The thrust of the similarities show that Rome and other governments like it fall into the same patterns as Egypt did under the Pharaoh who countered Moses. Like the Pharaoh, they face the wrath of God. -

The Eschatological Role of the Seventh Antediluvian Hero in 2 (Slavonic) Enoch
ANDREI A. ORLOV THE PILLAR OF THE WORLD: THE ESCHATOLOGICAL ROLE OF THE SEVENTH ANTEDILUVIAN HERO IN 2 (SLAVONIC) ENOCH Introduction In chapter 25 of the 2 Enoch the Lord reveals to the translated antediluvian hero some unique details in the mysteries of creation found neither in earlier Enochic booklets nor in any other Second Temple Jewish materials. One of the important parts of this revelation deals with the order of events that preceded the visible creation. The Deity unveils to the seer that prior to visible creation he called out from nothing the luminous aeon Adoil ordering him to become the foundation of the upper things. The account describes the process of Adoil’s transmutation into the cornerstone of creation on which the Deity establishes his Throne. Several distinguished students of Jewish mystical traditions, including Gershom Scholem and Moshe Idel, noticed that this protological account in chapter 25 dealing with the establishment of the created order appears to parallel the order of eschatological events narrated in chapter 65 where during his short visit to earth Enoch conveys to his children the mystery of the last times. 1 According to Enoch’s instruction, after the final judgment time will collapse and all the righteous of the world will be incorporated into a single luminous aeon. The description of this final aeon appears to bear striking similarities with the primordial aeon Adoil portrayed in chapter 25 as the foundation of the created order. The text also seems to hint that the righteous Enoch, translated to heaven and transformed into a luminous celestial creature, is the first fruit of this eschatological aeon that will eventually gather all the righteous into a single entity. -

The Ancient Aliens Guy, His Hair, and Extraterrestrial Imperialism
The Ancient Aliens Guy, His Hair, and Extraterrestrial Imperialism Proposal by Stephen Few, English 102 At some point during the past few years, you may have tuned into The History Channel in hopes of seeing Pawn Stars or a new documentary. Instead of finding what you were looking for, you may have come across a show called Ancient Aliens. When watching Ancient Aliens, it becomes evident very quickly that the show is trying to convince viewers that extraterrestrials have visited Earth in the past. It is obvious that many people begin watching the show for a good laugh once they realize this, because the show is continually made fun of on the Internet and in pop culture. Some people don’t watch long enough because Giorgio Tsoukalos and his crazy hair make the show appear silly and incredible. The odd thing is that some of the ideas are logically possible. The Ancient Astronaut Theory, for example, is a very interesting explanation to many historical mysteries, though it is not taken seriously as a scientific theory. Tsoukalos and his team’s theories on aliens visiting Earth in the past are theoretically possible, so we should consider the implications if their theory is true. What effects will alien visitors have on environmental issues, world religion and cultures, and political organizations around the world in the future? What kind of preparations need to be made by the world in order to prepare for the next alien visitation? Giorgio A. Tsoukalos doesn’t have the college credentials of a world-famous archeologist; as a matter of fact, his body building hobby and sports medicine degree are far from archeology. -
