ASVA Visitor Trend Report, June 2016 Dashboard Summary, June 2016 Usable data was received from 251 sites. The total number of visits recorded in June 2016 Scotland Total Visitor Numbers was 2,773,772; this compares to 2,674,132 in 2015 and indicates an increase of 3.7%. Excluding Country Parks ASVA's Commentary and Observations for June 2016 Month of June 2,773,772 3.7% p Year-to-Date 11,683,003 1.7% p Please note that figures can only be used when there is comparable data for both years. Including Country Parks As can be seen in the first paragraph, June 2016 shows an increase of 3.7% compared to the same month in 2015 Month of June 3,795,547 4.0% p (excluding Country Parks). All four regions show an increase in visitor numbers with the Northern region showing a Year-to-Date 16,667,377 4.2% p meaningful 9.2% increase over 2015. Eastern Scotland (this includes Edinburgh) too shows an above average increase of 4.5%. Per Region Looking more closely at some individual sites showing meaningful increases – Northern Scotland 359,453 9.1% p This report was Northern: Culloden (+17%), Highland Wildlife Park (18%), Inveraray Castle (12%), Inverewe Gardens (39%), Nevis *Northern Scotland † 318,320 9.3% p produced for ASVA by Range (+23%), Jacobite Cruises (+16%), Skara Brae (+29%) and Urquhart Castle (+14%). Western Scotland 1,866,675 2.8% p *Western Scotland † 888,295 0.9% p ‘Outlander’ still appears to be weaving its magic, with meaningful increases recorded at three sites which have featured in the series – Culloden (noted above), Doune Castle (+26%) and Glasgow Cathedral (+178%). Per Attraction Category June was a month of contrasting weather, starting generally dry and sunny. However, as the month progressed an Heritage/historic east/ west split was in evidence with the west enjoying warmer and drier weather on the whole than the east.
