No nation is immune from this horror. We must not be intimidated by terrorists and their inhumane actions. Our thoughts and Prayers are with you all.” As many of you know, on November 6 we lost a dear friend, a dedicated and faithful member of our Order, former Grand Commander Major General Robert Disney. Both Robert and his lovely wife Sheila have been to Canada many times. He was installed as Grand Commander at the Toronto international gathering and considered Canadians among his second family.

There is consensus among its proponents of human that the ‘referent object’ object of security should be the individual rather than the state, but no consensus with respect to the threats to individuals that should be included under the human security rubric. The ‘broad’ conception of human security promoted by the United Nations Development Programme in 1994, and now also associated with the Japanese government, includes a broad variety of threats to human well-being – disease, hunger and pollution – as well as violence. Proponents of narrower conceptions of human security argue that conflating a range of different harms to persons serves no good analytic purpose. This bibliography is based on searches for publications in which the term ‘human security’ appears. This approach has one important drawback. Much work that that deals with the substance of human security issues does not use the term human security at all. In this sense the bibliography is incomplete and remains a work in progress. Scope of the Bibliography The bibliography includes books, chapters in books, journal and magazine articles, scholarly papers, manuscripts, speeches, presentations, reports, and government publications, including official statements, political agreements, and press releases. Search Methodology The primary source of data was the Internet, which was searched using a number of tools. Additional resources used included Harvard University’s card catalog, and other sources, including Lexis Nexis, J-Stor and CiaoNet.

    New Evidence in Matas/Kilgour Revised Report on Organ Harvest of Falun Gong Practitioners in China

    News Release For Immediate Release February 2, 2007 New Evidence in Matas/Kilgour Revised Report on Organ Harvest of Falun Gong Practitioners in China Ottawa- David Matas and David Kilgour called on all states to ban transplant tourism to China. The call was made in the context of a revised version of a report which addresses the allegation whether organs are harvested from Falun Gong practitioners who were killed in the process. The initial report was released July 6, 2006. The reports conclude that it is true. The revised report almost doubles the amount of evidence that the practice is continuing. New evidence in the revised report reinforcing the original conclusions includes: • the donor recipient experience that transplant operations are done in a secretive way suggesting cover up of a crime; • heavy military involvement in the organ transplant business; • additional admissions from the hospitals that they have Falun Gong organs for transplant. The admissions were made to telephone investigators posing as relatives of patients in need of transplants; • additional testimony from Falun Gong victim witnesses about both systematic blood testing of only Falun Gong practitioners in Chinese detention and the disappearance of the massive numbers of Falun Gong practitioners in detention who refused to self identity to the authorities; • death through torture of over three thousand named Falun Gong practitioners; • the building of dedicated facilities for organ transplants without any identifiable source for transplants other than prisoners;
