Friday, May 24, 2019 – 8pm Buñuel Theater, Palais des Festivals Since 2013, as an official partner of the Cannes Film Festival, Angénieux has been paying a tribute to a prominent director of photography during the « Pierre Angénieux ExcelLens in Cinematography » ceremony. This event turns the spotlight on worldwide masters of light, directors of photography, without whom cinema would not exist. After Philippe Rousselot (AFC*, ASC*) in 2013, Vilmos Zsigmond (HSC*, ASC) in 2014, Roger A. Deakins (BSC*, ASC) in 2015, Peter Suschitzky (ASC) in 2016, Christopher Doyle (HKSC*) in 2017 and Edward Lachman (ASC), it is Bruno Delbonnel’s turn to be honored in 2019, at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival, during an exceptional eveninG opened by Thierry Frémaux, presented by French journalist Pierre Zéni and in presence of some of his closest collaborators. Bruno Delbonnel is a world-renowned French director of photography. Born in Nancy in 1957, Bruno Delbonnel first studied philosophy, then graduated from ESEC in the camera and light section, before filming his first and only film at the age of 20 : a short film, Rare Realities. On this film, Jean-Pierre Jeunet was his assistant and Henri Alekan, his DOP… AlonGside the master of black and white photoGraphy, he discovered his passion for liGht was stronGer than directing. He then beGan workinG as a camera assistant during fifteen years for commercials and some feature films, then as a DOP. -

WMC INVESTIGATION: 10-YEAR ANALYSIS OF GENDER & OSCAR NOMINATIONS womensmediacenter.com @womensmediacntr WOMEN’S MEDIA CENTER ABOUT THE WOMEN’S MEDIA CENTER In 2005, Jane Fonda, Robin Morgan, and Gloria Steinem founded the Women’s Media Center (WMC), a progressive, nonpartisan, nonproft organization endeav- oring to raise the visibility, viability, and decision-making power of women and girls in media and thereby ensuring that their stories get told and their voices are heard. To reach those necessary goals, we strategically use an array of interconnected channels and platforms to transform not only the media landscape but also a cul- ture in which women’s and girls’ voices, stories, experiences, and images are nei- ther suffciently amplifed nor placed on par with the voices, stories, experiences, and images of men and boys. Our strategic tools include monitoring the media; commissioning and conducting research; and undertaking other special initiatives to spotlight gender and racial bias in news coverage, entertainment flm and television, social media, and other key sectors. Hayworth (1952).jpg The film noir crime drama Affair in Trinidad (1952) — directed by Vincent Sherman and photographed by Joseph B. Walker, ASC — stars Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford and was promoted as a re-teaming of the stars of the prior hit Gilda (1946). Considered a “comeback” effort following Hayworth’s difficult marriage to Prince Aly Khan, Trinidad was the star's first picture in four years and Columbia Pictures wanted one of their finest cinematographers to shoot it. Here, Walker (on right, wearing fedora) and his crew set a shot on Hayworth over Ford’s shoulder. Dick Tracy – W. Beatty (1990).jpg Directed by and starring Warren Beatty, Dick Tracy (1990) was a faithful ode to the timeless detective comic strip. To that end, Beatty and cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, ASC, AIC — seen here setting a shot during production — rendered the film almost entirely in reds, yellows and blues to replicate the look of the comic. Storaro earned an Oscar nomination for his efforts. The two filmmakers had previously collaborated on the period drama Reds and later on the political comedy Bullworth. Cries and Whispers - L. El periodo de la Transición Española fue tan prolífico en producciones cinematográficas como en análisis de esas obras que nacieron en una época turbulenta y llena de aristas. Hay un grupo de películas que disfrutaban de las ventajas que da la libertad pero que seguían ancladas ideológicamente en el pasado, y pocas veces han tenido sobre ellas la lupa de los estudiosos. Nos referimos a lo que he- mos dado en llamar la comedia subgenérica de la Transición, un corpus de éxito en taquilla e innegable fuerza en cuanto vehículo ideológico, extremo este que trataremos de demostrar a partir de un análisis de los 30 largometrajes más representativos de ese subgénero. The period of the Spanish Transition was as prolific in film production as in analysis of those works that were born in a turbulent time. But there was a group of films that took advantage of the new freedom but they were ideologically anchored in the past. These films rarely have been studied. We refer to what we call the Subgeneric Transition Comedy, a group of remarkable box office hits with an undeniable force as ideological weapon. We will try to demonstrate this through an analysis of the 30 most representative examples of that subgenre. -
El Teatro De Los 50 En El Cine Español
El teatro de los 50 en el cine español Ramón Navarrete-Galiano Centro Andaluz de Estudios Empresariales, CEADE. Sevilla. La Generación del Medio Siglo, la conocida como de los 50, ofreció a España una serie de narradores y poetas, de gran talento y veracidad, que han supuesto un punto de inflexión en nuestra cultura. Semiocultos, por la grisácea posguerra española, que se prolongó hasta los años setenta, desde hace dos décadas han brillado por excelencia, y lo que es más importante, han sido reconocidos por las nuevas generaciones de lectores, entre los que indiscutiblemente se encuentran los nuevos talentos literarios de España. Nombres como el de Ana M aría M atute, Juan Goytisolo o la desaparecida Carmen Martín Gaite, son patrimonio de nuestra sociedad actual. De hecho la vinculación de esta generación con el cine se puede observar desde sus inicios, ya que en la publicación Revista Española participaron con diversos artículos sobre el cine y su vinculación con ellos. En concreto presentaron trabajos sobre Cesare Zavattini, la relación del cine y la literatura y una traducción de un artículo de Truman Capote sobre el séptimo arte. Indudablemente estamos ante una generación cinematográfica. Valga señalar algunas de las voces más importantes de este grupo cuando hablan de su unión con el séptimo arte: Carmen Martín Gaite explica que el cine se les coló sin querer a la vez que se hacían escritores1 «desde nuestra incipiente y más o menos ambiciosa vocación de novelistas aprendimos cine, se infiltraba el cine en nuestros quehaceres». Ese empaparse del cine aflorará a posteriori, como reflejo en sus obras, técnicas o facilidad para hacer guiones.
