THEWYRE SKILLS FOREST GUIDE 2019 WYRE FOREST THE PEOPLE. THE CAREERS. THE WORKFORCE. 1 WYREWelcome FOREST to The Skills Guide 2019 This is the second year that Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Worcestershire County Council have developed these guides to the local skills network. We’ve created these documents to help provide local students and parents with a greater understanding of the academic opportunities and employment opportunities available in Worcestershire. Our reports provide a wealth of information from all six district areas in Worcestershire, with a summary of the top industry sectors and the largest employers in each area. With our knowledge of the local employment trends and the skills that businesses require to continue their growth, we are able to help younger generations to understand what the jobs of the future will look like and require. Gary Woodman The Skills Guide forms part of the work carried out by the Worcestershire LEP’s Careers Hub team, which helps to Chief Executive bring together our county’s businesses with local schools and colleges. By working together with employers, schools Worcestershire LEP and colleges in their careers advice and planning, we aim to ensure that our younger generations will have the relevant skills for the future needs of local business. To help further improve the education of our younger people, we’ve launched a campaign for ‘Creating our Future Workforce’. The campaign aims to tackle the county’s skills gap and support businesses to get involved with developing Worcestershire’s skilled workforce of the future, by working more closely together with educational establishments.

Thank you for the help you gave me and for the time you made available to discuss the actions you are taking to improve the school since the most recent section 5 inspection. The visit was the first monitoring inspection since the school was judged to require improvement following the section 5 inspection in February 2014. It was carried out under section 8 of the Education Act 2005. Senior leaders and governors are taking effective action to tackle the areas requiring improvement identified at the recent section 5 inspection. The school should take further action to: ensure that actions identified in the school’s improvement plan have specific milestones so that governors are able to monitor the school’s progress accurately and effectively ensure that monitoring activities are specified by date and type strengthen the focus on the achievement of students eligible for pupil premium (pupil premium is additional funding for those students who are known to be eligible for free school meals, students from service families and those students looked after by the local authority) ensure that information about progress made by Key Stage 3 students is shared regularly with governors.

  • Transfer of Kingsford Forest Park to the National Trust
Cabinet 16 October 2014 6. TRANSFER OF KINGSFORD FOREST PARK TO THE NATIONAL TRUST Relevant Cabinet Mrs L Hodgson and Mr J Campion Members Relevant Officer Director of Business, Environment and Community Local Member Mr G Yarranton Recommendation 1. The Cabinet Members with Responsibility for Localism and Communities and Transformation and Change, recommend that the Cabinet: (a) approves the transfer of the freehold of Kingsford Forest Park to the National Trust; and (b) that the authority to negotiate and agree the detailed terms and conditions of the transfer is delegated to the Director of Business, Environment and Community in consultation with the Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Localism and Communities. Background Information 2. Kingsford Forest Park comprises 85.4 hectares of mixed deciduous and conifer woodland, and lowland heathland at Wolverley near Kidderminster. It is owned and managed by Worcestershire County Council as part of its countryside estate and is principally used for informal recreation such as dog walking, horse riding, mountain biking, nature study, picnicking and other similar outdoor pursuits. It has a number of waymarked trails, two car parks and a toilet block. Current County Council activity consists of managing and promoting the site and overseeing the work of contractors and volunteers. The park falls within the Kinver Edge Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) all of which is owned and managed by the National Trust, apart from Kingsford Forest Park. The park has a number of designations due to its nature conservation, landscape and historical interest which includes some "Rock House" structures and naturally occurring rock outcrops that have to be carefully monitored for safety reasons.

  • Report: Worcs Minerals Plan Consultation
Wyre Forest Response to Worcestershire Minerals Local Plan- Fourth Stage Consultation 1 Wyre Forest District Council welcomes the fourth stage consultation on the Worcestershire Minerals Local Plan. The council recognises that the North West Worcestershire Strategic Corridor has been reduced in size by 11.1%, from 6061 ha to 5391 ha, since the Third Consultation stage in 20131. 2 The council also notes that the settlements of Blakedown, Broadwaters, Cookley, Kidderminster, Stourport–on-Severn and Wolverley have been removed from the corridor. 3 It should also be noted that a substantial part of the North West Worcestershire Corridor lies within the West Midlands Green Belt. As discussed in paragraph 4.142, mineral extraction in itself is not inappropriate in the Green Belt, providing that it preserves the Green Belt openness and does not conflict with the purposes of including land within it, which is further outlined in Policy MLP 18: Green Belt.2 4 Further to this paragraph 6.26 of the Minerals Plan notes that ‘very special circumstances may need to be demonstrated for mineral developments (in the Green Belt) or elements of them, if they are to be considered acceptable’. Indeed this was the basis that the case of R (Samuel Smith Old Brewery (Tadcaster) and Oxton Farm) v North Yorkshire County Council and Darrington Quarries Ltd was successfully appealed on3. 5 The council notes policy MLP 7 in reference to the North West Worcestershire Corridor in that planning permission will only be granted for mineral development that ‘contributes towards the quality character and distinctiveness of the corridor through the delivery and enhancement of green infrastructure networks’4.

  • Wyre Forest District Council Proposed Changes to Ward Boundaries
Wyre Forest District Council Proposed Changes to Ward Boundaries Submission to the Local Authority Boundary Commission Ref: Wolverley and Cookley As Chairman of Wolverley and Cookley Parish Council I am dismayed at our District Council’s proposal to create “a 3 member ward policy” to accommodate a 33 member council. As I understand the situation an option of a 34 member council is still possible. Indeed the 33 is not yet set in stone and therefore any number is still negotiable. The Parish of Wolverley and Cookley has a registered electorate of almost 4000 and growing. In addition there is a seasonal influx of visitors staying in our Parish thus giving rise to greater demands on its representation for a large part of the year. I strongly believe that the Parish of Wolverley and Cookley represents a discrete, two member District Council Ward. I am mindful that the total number of registered electors falls a little outside the 10% variance, however we do comprise 2 villages and a substantial rural area giving rise to a large geographic area. Currently residents enjoy efficient and effective service from the 2 district councillors and the Parish Council. I fear that expanding to a 3 member ward including the parishes of Blakedown and Chaddesley would greatly dilute resident representation and the huge geographic area would be truly unworkable. Our large Parish community has a very long history dating back to the 9th century. We are bounded by the A449 and A442 roads. It embraces many tourist attractions, eg Kingsford Forest Park, Bodenham Arboretum, the Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal, the World War 2 underground factory and Cold War seat of Local Government – all of these are huge tourist attractions.
