Statement(s) of Unknown Acute Toxicity Dermal 70% of the mixture consists of ingredient(s) of unknown acute toxicity. Other Hazards Which Do Not Result in Classification May form combustible dust concentrations in air (during handling or processing). SECTION 3: Composition / information on ingredients CAS Component Name Hazardous ingredients (% of the content) 7440-44-0 Carbon, activated 60-90 ____________________________________________________________ Page 2 of 10 Issue date: 2018-09-24 Revision 1.2 Print date: 2018-09-24 Safety Data Sheet Material Name: Luminousgard® Alkali and Acid Treated Activated Carbon SDS ID: 0041 (TAIWAN) 7664-38-2 Phosphoric acid 20-30 584-08-7 Potassium carbonate 0-5 Impurities and stabilizing additives contributing to the GHS Classification None SECTION 4: First aid measures Description of Necessary Measures Inhalation If adverse effects occur, remove to uncontaminated area. Give artificial respiration if not breathing. If breathing is difficult, oxygen should be administered by qualified personnel. Get immediate medical attention. Skin contact Wash skin with soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get immediate medical attention. Thoroughly clean and dry contaminated clothing before reuse. Destroy contaminated shoes. Eye contact Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 60 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Then get immediate medical attention. Ingestion If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth. Get immediate medical attention. Note to Physicians Avoid gastric lavage or emesis. For inhalation, consider oxygen. Most Important Symptoms/Effects Symptoms: Immediate May be harmful if swallowed, May be harmful in contact with skin, respiratory tract burns, skin burns, eye burns, mucous membrane burns Symptoms: Delayed No information on significant adverse effects. Protection of first-aiders Wear suitable protective clothing. Perform first aid measures in a safe area. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed None known. SECTION 5: Firefighting measures Suitable extinguishing media regular dry chemical, carbon dioxide, water spray Unsuitable Extinguishing Media high-pressure water streams Specific hazards arising from the chemical Slight fire hazard. Avoid generating dust; fine dust dispersed in air in sufficient concentrations, and in the presence of an ignition source is a potential dust explosion hazard. Protective Equipment and Precautions for Firefighters Wear full protective fire fighting gear including self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for protection against possible exposure. Fire Fighting Measures ____________________________________________________________ Page 3 of 10 Issue date: 2018-09-24 Revision 1.2 Print date: 2018-09-24 Safety Data Sheet Material Name: Luminousgard® Alkali and Acid Treated Activated Carbon SDS ID: 0041 (TAIWAN) Move container from fire area if it can be done without risk. Do not scatter spilled material with high- pressure water streams. Fight fire from maximum distance or use unmanned hose holders or monitor nozzles. Do not get water inside container. Cool containers with water spray until well after the fire is out. Withdraw immediately in case of rising sound from venting safety device or any discoloration of tanks due to fire. Stay away from the ends of tanks. Use extinguishing agents appropriate for surrounding fire. Reduce vapors with water spray. Avoid inhalation of material or combustion by-products. Stay upwind and keep out of low areas. Hazardous combustion products oxides of carbon, oxides of phosphorus, oxides of potassium SECTION 6: Accidental release measures Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures Wear personal protective clothing and equipment. Environmental precautions Avoid release to the environment. Methods for Containment Eliminate all sources of ignition. Do not touch damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing. Stop leak if possible without personal risk. Reduce vapors with water spray. If sweeping of a contaminated area is necessary, use a dust suppressant agent. Avoid contact with combustible materials. Dike for later disposal. Keep unnecessary people away, isolate hazard area and deny entry. Cleanup Methods Collect spill using a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter or wet and scoop up dry spills. Collect spilled material in appropriate container for disposal. Avoid sweeping spilled dry material. Eliminate ignition sources including sources of electrical, static or frictional sparks. Do not get water inside container. SECTION 7: Handling and storage Precautions for safe handling Do not breathe dust. Wash thoroughly after handling. Wear protective gloves/clothing and eye/face protection. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid significant deposits of material, especially on horizontal surfaces, which may become airborne and form combustible dust clouds and may contribute to secondary explosions. Use methods to minimize dust. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities Store locked up. Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Store and handle in accordance with all current regulations and standards. Keep separated from incompatible substances. Incompatible Materials combustible materials, halogens, metals SECTION 8: Exposure controls/personal protection Exposure Guidelines Component Exposure Limits Phosphoric acid 7664-38-2 Taiwan: 1 mg/m3 TWA ____________________________________________________________ Page 4 of 10 Issue date: 2018-09-24 Revision 1.2 Print date: 2018-09-24 Safety Data Sheet Material Name: Luminousgard® Alkali and Acid Treated Activated Carbon SDS ID: 0041 (TAIWAN) 2 mg/m3 STEL ACGIH: 1 mg/m3 TWA 3 mg/m3 STEL ACGIH - Threshold Limit Values - Biological Exposure Indices (BEI) There are no biological limit values for any of this product's components. Appropriate engineering controls Provide local exhaust or process enclosure ventilation system. Ensure that dust-handling systems (such as exhaust ducts, dust collectors, vessels, and processing equipment) are designed in a manner to prevent the escape of dust into the work area (i.e., there is no leakage from the equipment). Ensure compliance with applicable exposure limits. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT Eye/face protection Wear splash resistant safety
