It­is hereby notified that by. virtue of the powers vested in the Governor by section 66 of the Customs Laws, 1936 to (No. 2) 1948., and duly deputed to me, I hereby approve the area described in the third, column of the Schedule hereto, belonging to the Bank whose name is set out in the first column of that Schedule and occupied by the company whose name is set out in the second column of that Schedule, to be a private warehouse for the warehousing of the goods specified in the fourth column of the said Schedule without payment of import duties upon the first entry of such goods therein. In exercise of the powers vested in me by section 20 of the Tree Planting (Village Areas) Law,; 1948, I dojiereby order that the Order relating to the Tree Planting Area of the. village of Athienou, published under Notification No. 627 of the Gazette, of 7th August, 1931, the extension whereof for a further period of five years was­ published in Supplement No. 3 to­ the Gazette of 14th August, 1941, and which expired on 7th September, 1946, shall be extended for a further period of five years from the date of expiration as aforesaid. Webb A report on the excavations at Kalopsidha Tsaoudhi part of a volume devoted to Åström’s excavations Chiflik was published by Paul Åström in the second in 1959 at Kalopsidha and Ayios Iakovos (Åström volume of SIMA (Åström 1966). My own copy, which 1966: 7–143). The publication stands out those who support their publication. Kalopsidha was as an early example of a multidisciplinary site report occupied through most of the Bronze Age. It is typical and a testament to the collaborative spirit which Paul of many sites in Cyprus which have been investigated always showed toward other scholars.

During the period under review the cease-fire held except for a few isolated incidents especially in the Nicosia area. UNFICYP was active in re-establishing the cease-fire when incidents occurred. 2. On 25 August I arrived in Nicosia from Athens. I visited UNFICYP units in the area and held discussions with niy Special Representative, the Force Commander of UNFICYP, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, who had arrived in the island on 22 August to co-ordinate United Nations humanitarian relief efforts in Cyprm. On 22 August I met with Acting President Clerides and Vice-President Denktash before leaving for $kara snd Athens. I shall be reporting to the Council separately on those talks. 3. UNFICYP ,has encountered some problems of freedom of movement in the area of Turkish control. These problems are now under discussion. -.Protection of Turkish Cypriot inhabited areas outside the area of Turkish Control 4. UNFICYP now maintains a total of'35 observation posts in Turkish Cypriot villages and mixed villages as follows: Nicosia district: Louroujina, Dhali, Potamia, Pyroi, Peristerona. Fsmagusta district: Ephtskomi. Larnaca district: Larnaca town, Mari, Zyyi, Kophinou, Tokhni, Alsminos, :, Pyla. Limassol district: Kato Polemidhia, Evdhimou, Alekotora, Episkopi. 6aphos district: Paphos, Stavrokono, Matidria, Ayios Ioannis, Vrecha, Lapithou, Anadhlou, Melandra, Pelathousa, Androlikou, Yialia, Polis, Kouklia, Mallia. The President has the legitimate and fundamental right to visit citizens of the Republic in any part of the territory, particularly when, as in this case, the visit is motivated purely by humanitarian reasons, having regard to the situation of the Greek Cypriot citizens in the Karpass.

Whereas it has been represented to me that certain lands on which the Military Authorities constructed a military road, situated in the localities set out in the Schedule hereto, are needed, and should be acquired, for use as a permanent public road. In pursuance of the provisions of section 19 of the Irrigation Divisions (Villages) Law, 1938, the following Rules made by the Committee of the Irrigation Division of Angastina, Mousoulita, Marathovouno, Yenagra, Pyrga and Prastio (Pedias) in the District of Famagusta, are published in the Gazette. (M.P. 1227/23.) IRRIGATION DIVISION OF ANGASTINA, MOUSOULITA, MARATHOVOUNO, YENAGRA, PYRGA AND PRASTIO, (PEDIAS). Rules. 1. These Rules may be cited as the Irrigation Division of Angastina, Mousoulita, Marathovouno, Yenagra, Pyrga and Prastio (Pedias) Amendment Rules, 193S, and shall be read as one with the Irrigation Division of Angastina, Gazette: Mousoulita, Marathovouno, Yenagra, Pyrga and Prastio (Pedias) Rules, 1932, 23.12.1932. (hereinafter called the "Principal Rules"), and the Principal Rules and these Rules may together be cited as the Irrigation Division of Angastina, Mousoulita, Marathovouno, Yenagra, Pyrga and Prastio (Pedias) Rules, 1932 and 1938, 2. The Principal Rules are hereby amended by the insertion of the following Rule after Rule 10 :— " 10A. The Committee of the Irrigation Division may determine from which channel each field capable of being benefited by the works shall be irrigated and no person shall irrigate his field from any other channel than that approved by the Irrigation Committee."
