Abilene Athletics Academy Next school year (2021 - 2022), 3rd - 6th graders in Abilene (USD 435 & St. Andrews students) will have the opportunity to participate in a new youth athletic program. Abilene Athletics Academy will off er practice opportunities a er school for students to work on their skills in the sports of volleyball, girls basketball, and boys basketball. During this off ering, coaches in each of those speci c sports will be working with prospective athletes on fundamental skills, strategies and game scrimmages to help build our athletic programs.  ese will be held at the Abilene Community Center a er school and bus transportation from each school will be off ered. Tumbling/Dance Combo - A combination class of both tumbling and dance is wonderful for younger students. Combination classes will begin with stretches and warm-ups including all basic positions of ballet, owed by warm up dances that are hip-hop or jazz style, We then move on to tumbling that will include, but not limited to forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels, backbends, bridge kickovers, and walkovers.

Tumbling - Tumbling is a form of gymnastics performed without props or equipment also referred to as oor gymnastics. Classes off ered will range from beginner through advanced levels. Tumbling classes are designed to teach exibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. Our tumbling classes will focus on mastering all basic skills and exercises that provide a strong foundation moving into advanced movements.

Boys Parkour Style Tumbling - Parkour is a training discipline that enhances your strength, coordination, and agility by overcoming movement challenges by climbing walls, balancing on obstacles, swinging on bars, and vaulting over barriers.  is class will combine Parkour movement with basic tumbling skill, using forward mo- mentum to safely execute diff erent courses!

• I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and offi cials at every game, practice, or other youth sports event. • I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my child ahead of a personal desire to win. • I will insist that my child play in a safe and healthy environment. • I will support coaches and offi cials working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all. • I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and will refrain from their use at all youth sports events. • I will remember that the games are for youth - not adults. • I will do my very best to make youth sports fun for my child. • I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, fans and offi cials with respect, regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability. • I promise to help my child enjoy the youth sports experience by doing whatever I can, such as being a respectful fan, assisting with coaching, or providing transportation. • I will require that my child’s coach be trained in the responsibilities of being a youth sports coach, and that the coach upholds the “Coaches Code of Ethic”. • I will read the National Standards for Youth Sports and do what I can, to help all youth sports organization implement and enforce them.

Youth Sports Program Policies • All teams will be formed by the Abilene Parks & Recreation Department. • A $5/child late registration fee will be charged for all late registrations. Late registration will be accepted until teams are full. A er teams are full, all late registrations will be put on a waiting list. Waiting list applicants will not be guaranteed placement. Late registration sign-ups may not request to be placed on a speci c team. • All youth must play in the appropriate age/grade division. Requests to be moved to another division will not be grant ed. • Youth will be contacted by their coaches to when/where practices will be held, as well as game schedules. • At least one coach from each team must certify through the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA). • Requests for three coaches to coach a team will not be allowed unless one of the coaches does not have a child partici pating in the program. • Requests for youth to be placed on the same team as a friend or with a speci c coach will be considered, but there are no guarantees. • Our goal is to provide the opportunity for participating to all who enter, regardless of skill or ability level. We wish to provide youth with a fun learning experience and the opportunity to develop lifetime leisure skills.

Abilene Virtual School (9th - 12th) Abilene Virtual School will off er a rigorous online curriculum for the core academic classes including, English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Students will have access to highly quali ed teachers when help is needed. In addition, a Service Learning component will be off ered that will help students connect with the community.  e enrollment process will include an enrollment form as well as an interview including the potential student, their parents, High School Principal, and Counselor. Fees include a $40.00 insurance cost of the computer. 24

1 - ABILENE COMMUNITY CENTER - Located at 1020 N.W. 8th St. Volleyball and basketball courts and an indoor walking area are available.  e Community Center and multi-purpose room are available for rent. Contact the Parks and Recreation Offi ce for more information.  e Community Center was opened in June of 2005. 2 - NORTH DIAMOND COMPLEX (DIAMONDS #1 & #2) - Located east of the Community Center, these two elds are used for youth baseball and so ball games and tournaments. 3 - BILL GRAVETTE SPORTS COMPLEX (DIAMONDS #3, #4, #5, & #6) - Located south of the Community Center, the complex contains four elds used for youth baseball and so ball programs and various youth tournaments. Fields #3 and #4 are home to the Abilene High School so ball team. 5 - FIELD #7 - Located on the west side of Eisenhower Park. Field #7 is home to the Abilene Baseball Club and Abilene High School baseball team. 6 - EISENHOWER ROSE GARDEN - Located in Eisenhower Park. Stop and smell the roses during the spring and summer or enjoy the wonderful array of autumn colors in the fall.  e Rose Garden is a relaxing atmosphere for anyone. Persons who are interested in requesting the use of the Rose Garden for special occasions or weddings should call the Parks and Recreation offi ce.  is is a rst-come, rst-serve basis. For lost and found items please contact the Parks & Recreation offi ce. 7 - EISENHOWER PARK -  e main entrance is located at Northwest 4th and Pine Street.  is park was developed as a W. P. A. Project and was entered in the National Register of Historic Place on June 6, 2002. It contains the following sports facilities: Bill Gravette So - ball Complex, Ted Power Baseball Diamond, the Skate Park, lighted sand volleyball, tennis, and basketball courts. As well as the walking trail that was opened the Fall of 2007 it is 5/8 of a mile and resides in the Eisenhower Park and the Rose Garden. e public rest rooms are open from late March to late October, weather dependent.  is lovely shaded park is ideal for large picnics, reunions, or special events.
