After all the recent snow, the Spring flowers and lengthening hours of daylight are a reminder that Easter is drawing near. Special services for Easter are being held in all our churches, at ‘Weens House’ and on the top of Ruberslaw – and a warm welcome is extended to locals and visitors to share in them. Full details are: Palm Sunday , 25 March: 9.30am Service in Hobkirk Church, followed by the Annual Stated Meeting of the Hobkirk and Southdean congregation 11am Service in Bedrule Church, with the Sacrament of Baptism 6pm ‘Palm Sunday Praise’ Service in Southdean Church Maundy Thursday , 29 March: 2.15pm Denholm School Easter Service in Denholm Church 7pm Maundy Thursday Communion in Denholm Church Good Friday , 30 March: 2.30pm Service at the Bonchester Bridge Care Centre. ‘Weens House’ 7pm Good Friday Service in Minto Church ‘Black’ Saturday , 31 March: 2pm/4pm Denholm Church will be open and heated for prayer and reflection – appropriate music will be quietly playing Easter Sunday , 1 April: 7am Easter Dawn Service at top of Ruberslaw 9.30am Easter Family Service in Denholm Church 11am Easter Communion Service in Hobkirk Church All are welcome to celebrate Easter 2018 in our local churches! Boys’ Brigade GUILD NEWS Since our uptake after New Year we have enjoyed fun and Ruberslaw Guild games, competitions with the Battalion such as art and sport. We have been assisted over this session The annual Senior Citizens’ Christmas Lunch, hosted by th by James Wieczysty. James is working towards his Ruberslaw Guild, was held on Sunday 20 December and Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award which has was enjoyed by over fifty people. Thanks are due again to included working with our Boys’ Brigade over this Maureen King, who supplied a tasty hot meal, and to Louise session. James is a great help to us and we all wish Douglas ad Kenny Speirs who provided the entertainment. him well. Thanks are also due to all who support this event with donations – including the Community Council. Our presentation night will be held on March 29 th . At 5.45pm. All welcome. This presentation will be for our Boys’ Brigade The meeting planned for January had to be abandoned due th and also for Rev. Nicol. The February meeting was led by Dorothy Douglas who gave an update showing that well over half a million pounds has been raised by Church of Scotland Guild for the six projects over the 3-year cycle.
